The biggest mistake that new players make is that they play too many hands. Just because you get a picture card it does not mean it is a good hand.

Until you have played the game a lot and become more experienced you should fold every hand 'worse' than Queen 10.

*Never, ever play Jack 4 (unless you are good and can bluff your opponents). For some reason a lot of new players think this is a good hand.*

when starting a game good poker players (who dont allready know how their oppnent plays) should always play a few hands to test the water regardless of what they have

The person left of the dealer button is the small blind, the person left of the small blind is the big blind. To play you must call the big blind (unless someone has raised it then to play you have to call the raise). If you don't want to play you fold.

'greed. But only play if you believe you have a genuine chance of winning. One of my mates sometimes plays until the end just to see what the other person has got regardless of what he has. (yes, he is an idiot).

PokerDoctor, I realise I'm a bit late but .....

If someone goes all in with 27 pre flop against my AA, and the flop comes down 227, is it ok for me to burn down his house OR should I just stab the dealer with a pen?

you would probably be big stack anyway, as shortstack would be playing aggresively so you would still have some chips left, if he went all in big stack 2 7 then you should feel sorry for him for being so ****

I've an A(D) 3(S) 4(C) K(C) in Omaha H/L. I'm before the dealer on a table of 9. The first 2 people see the big blind, then the next player raises 3 times that. The players inbetween fold. I've slightly more chips than I started in about half-way through a multiplayer (starting with 20 tables) tourney, where the top 27 are paid. What do I do - fold, see the bet, or raise?

I have won £££££s in poker. I play in big tournaments and shizz.

I said unexperienced people shouldn't play a hand 'worse' than Q 10 as they haven't developed the ability to read people.

And BTW a 9 9 is a better hand than a Q 10 so no, they shouldn't fold that. If you get 9 9 you should make a big raise before the flop.

#20
2% sorry
#21
and big raises are not advised, most pros advise a raise of 4 times the bb

Did I say Q 10 suited? No I didn't.

I said Q 10.

9 9 is better than Q 10 suited anyway. You seriously know nothing about poker.

Do you want any more poker tips while you are here as you are obviously a poker novice?
#23
how do i go about playing a flopped 4 of a kind?

No, if you have a 9 9 you want to make a big raise as you only really want one person to call you. 9 9 is not a great hand, it's a good hand but if you are playing anything more than a J 10 it turns into a coin flip - hence why you only want to be up against one person. The more people that play the hand the higher the chance of someone hitting an overcard.

I'd slow play it. Try and get someone to make a big bluff and then raise them by about 20%.

you raise a fair point as i would do the same, but its not always the case, as im sure a seasoned veteran such as your self would know

What is the eye rolling for?

Obviously if no one is better you have to try and 'force' someone to bet. I would make a smallish raise in the hope that someone has hit pair and they believe they are slow playing the hand.

ill be honest, i thought the eye-rolling was pretty obvious (but thats besides the point)
i find the best option though, is to raise enough for them to be considering the call, but not too big to make them fold, and on the turn, attempt to get them pot-committed before the all in on the river? would you agree?

It depends on how many chips you have and how many chips they have. Defo try and get them pot committed though. However if you are the one doing all the raising and then go all in on the river most people would fold (unless they are super pot committed).

lets say you have a massive chip lead 10k +
you are raising, as i said 'enough' they have shoveled 50-75% of thier chips in, the chances are they are not going to lay it down on the river if one went all in.

Big difference between 75% and 50%.

If a player was to already put 75% of their chips a pot they are prepared to go all in.

However, a wise player, even after putting 50% of their chips in a pot will fold if they think 'something doesn't seem right'.

I have made some great folds in the past, even folding A A.

A good poker player plays with their head, not their heart.

50% is still techniqally pot commited, admittedly not as much so as 75% but the chances are that even at 50% they are more than likely to push

Yeah - But if they find out u actually get ur ass fiddled with. My poker twin Jon played on em and was reported for underage gambling by a user .... His account and creadit was removed, (98 quid, not much but still!)

And then he got a nice trip from the authorities with a nice fine and written gambling warning.

OUCH

I didnt think they would bother to do any of that stuff.... but they obv did, this was about 4 month ago
