tt how can you say it was predictable? noway on this earth is this a normal Hollywood ending by any stretch!

Well i originally watched about 30mins of this and was put off by the naff special effects, heard about the depressing ending and subsequently watched it again, and yip! excellant film ;D

The ending in the film had a much bigger impact than the original one in the book I feel.

Yeah I see it, it was pretty good actually there are two alternate endings;

Well they're alternate cuts really but they're good still
#8
Yeah but that alternate ending has been made by a youtuber.

Frank Darabont agreed to make the film with Dimension only under the condition that no matter what, they wouldn't change the scripted ending. They agreed. (imdb)

here's the trivia page, very interesting http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0884328/trivia

i thought the film was v good! i also liked the dark tower books, when i saw roland, i was like 'wahhhhh?!!!'

it was an ending with a twist which had be done before so before the survivors chose that last option i already knew what was gonna happen, The best part of the film was the start when you didnt actually know what was happening, the unknown element plays a powerful part in films

Great Stephen King film. Frank Darabont is a genius imho (not up to shawshank / green mile standards though). One for rental only.
#12
yep totally agree. Great film with a great (but sad) ending.
#13
Better rented than bought,,,
#14
It was great...until the end. Most stupid ending ever IMO.
#15
Hated it.

As it was a Stephen King story i was able to predict the daft religious subplot and bleak ending. It was directed well and had some good suspense but I just couldn't suspend disbelief when it came to some of the characters reactions.

hated the non hollywood ending:x good film up to that point

Are you serious? It's called being original ;-)

What mini said and also the religious undertones were played good and showed that not everyone is a complete religious nutball!

Also read the short story from the Skeleton Crew which the movie is based from :D

I cried, hate it when films do that:-( my husband loved the ending though

Bang, bang, bang........bang ............... no bang... fail.

Having not even heard of the book, i went into this film blind, and enjoyed it, although the ending did come as a bit of a shock, i was expecting the normal end to this sort of thing.
#22
The problem I had was that the ending was not a shock in the slightest.

I predicted both the religious elements and the ending with almost pinpoint accuracy within the first five minutes. The denouement just seemed lazy and illogical.
