Mine is printed on the renewal notice I got recently. Does it not also say band on the disc? (not sure and car is too far away today to check!)

I am in band C. If my car emitted 7 grams less CO2 then it would only be £35 a year.:x

How much has it risen by in your case?
#11
I was a bit hasty  didn't realize that was cars registered after 1st of March 2001  my car was registered a few months before that so only gone up about £5 :-D which I can probably live with.

I LOVE MY YARIS EVEN MORE NOW! £35 a YEAR :-D
#15
I love my Prius even more :) 15 quid road tax.

However, my Mondeo will be taxed 210 quid this year and 300 next one. Toyota! Where the hell is new Prius with 120 mpg????
#16
My bicycle doesn't get taxed at all this year. I should use it more.
#17
Good job I taxed the wife's car online this morning

Don't know what people moan about, £185 for a 3l v6 Alfa sounds reasonable to me :giggle: Even more tempted to buy one now, if only I could afford the petrol PMSL.
#18
Well... I don't think it is fair that basic no-frills petrol 2.0 Mondeo should attract tax of 300 quid next year. I guess I'll change my car this year. Maybe :(
#19
Mine's dropped £25, woohoo.

How's that? This year there is only increase in tax, not decrease?

In the new system my car falls into £90 a year.
#22
Ah, got it. Pity it is in 2009, not 2008.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Mines is due this month, have my form here, and it says
"The earlist you can apply for a Tax Disc is 15.03.08"

And the new rate takes effect tomorrow, 13th.

£120 instead of £115 but its a fiver better in my pocket than those robbing gits. :x
#27
Same with me :( I received Road Tax paperwork last week and was waiting for 15.03.08. It was 205, now I have to pay 210 :(
#28
My Astra is band D I think, so a small increase. That's not a problem though because my tax bill is set to fall by around £370 due to the income tax/NI changes. Woo!

It doesn't work like that. Either your late for paying your tax from the previous month, or your going to need to pay extra for this month...(if it's gone up...)
#30
One of my cars is a company car. Although I don't have to pay road tax I get hammered with income tax. You guys are getting off lightly :)
#31
You could do what many people are doing (myself included) - quit your company car scheme and use your own car for business :)

Thanks. I have thought about it, but I can only opt out If I own a car less than 5 years old (which I don't).
I also travel about 40,000 per year and don't want to do that sort of mileage in my own car.

But your right it is an option and I may look at again in the near future.

I have a 1.8 diesel so I assume I'm the 185 quid one, my car is an x reg so before 2001 isn't it? Anyone know how much I paid before? I thought it was 180, so maybe gone up 5? That's only about 2% which is the rate of inflation anyway.

Actually it does work like that. Online you can apply from the 11th of the previous month.
#36
Just getting my head around this stuff. My car's a 1998 model so I assume no reductions apply to me and I'm gonna be hit by a slight increase. Such an economical little thing too.

according to that site my car tax has gone up by £20 and thats just the 6th month one!
