yep, from memory it took tenant a while before he was really accepted and every new assistant is also apparently crap although to be fair this one is gorgeous so I couldn't care less if she's any good or not.

I enjoyed it! :)

Give it a few more episodes and itll be fine. Its a whole new story. Theres no point continuing on what Eccleston and Tenant's story was about. Its all new, makes more sense. :) Allows new viewers to join in on the story too.

I dunno, I go right back with Doctor Who, warmed almost instantly which I found amazing considering how I felt when he did the last minute of Tennant's finale.

Anyway to buy an external recorder ie. HDMI in or is iyt a case of buying a dedicated recorder like the foxsat thing.

Sad sign of the times that the BBC is waving around a childrens TV show as its flagship
#22

Not really. It's a show that's been loved by kids AND adults for 30 odd years. Plus it's got a HUGE following in America so the rights alone for it must make them a small fortune.

A childrens show that earns then lots of wonga maybe but still......
Seems a bit like BBC and Ch4 have changed positions over the years. Just my opinion.

CH4 is an awful channel! I am no Dr Who fan, but it's good, popular TV. The BBC produces a lot of quality output, Channel 4 produces a lot of rubbish

Just seems to me that in past times the Beeb would have trumpted current affairs as its flagship but its has decided to compete with ITV. Maybe brings in the money but has changed the character of the channel.
For good or bad? Depends if there are lots of kids to entertain or not...............

In the past? Doctor Who has always been one of the flagship shows for the beeb whenever it has been on, even 20+ years ago.
Hardly a childrens show either, its a family show, childrens shows are the likes of teletubbies/tracy beaker in my view.
Love it or hate it, it has to be better than eastenders or the reality crap that we get these days.
What do you think the beeb should promote as the flagship show?

Thats probably for a different thread. Dr Who doesnt do it for me. Maybe for lots of others it does. Hope so with all the trailers they keep running.

why bring it up in this one then?

Obviously does for others, as it is 8th in the weeks viewing figures, only beaten by eastenders and borethenation street

I enjoyed it, I think its much better than the David Tennant era, and on that evidence Matt Smith will make a better Doctor. Im not too keen on the new theme tune though.
