The Pier is in administration.

I know some deals from the pier were put on recently but seemingly further reductions have been made

60% off furniture
40% off cushoins
50% off Christmas decorations
40% off candles

Yet another victim in the high street. Didn't know it was in trouble, quite like the shop. The website is still active with all reduced items on. I haven't been into a store yet, may well wander down though

this site should rename itself 'hot admin' deals' . .
#2
seems high priced on some items even tho its been reduced
#3
too expensive even when reductions applied, not good value for money
#4
another woolies type sale
#5
Still expensive even with discounts, thats why its going bust.Voted cold

They are owned by the same Icelandic company that owned the ILVA chain that went under a few months back. The products are way over priced and of poor quality for the money, even at the sale prices. Better value at Furniture Village etc.....
#7
the prices were the same before they went into administration so not much of a deal
#8
I disagree 100% that they are poor quality for money, we have had some great solid stuff from there.

However I do agree that they are well overpriced.

However we once got a display model media tower and media unit for £160 down from £400.

Quite - They had a massive sale (~70% off) on in the early summer, I kitted out my house wih loads of stuff. I wouldn't have paid the rrp for it but the stuff was such good quality I had a good look around during their recent -30% sale.

My wife just loves this store. if you shop carefully there are some great bargains.

They have definitely hiked the prices up the past few weeks. I have seen things I bought early in the year doubled up. I'm going to pop in this afternoon and see if there i smuch about :)
#13
moved to misc.
#14
They're due to close in early- mid January (according to a guy I know who's now just lost his job due to it)- so there is little choice left as well :(

Exactly, though that hasent stopped people flocking to our store ever since the news was announced. Also worth adding that some items are discounted at slightly more than advertised ( normally only a small difernece though- for example weve scanned 6 pound candles, 50% reduced, they come in at £2.45).

If you go take a good look at the stuff, take it out of the box and feel it. We got a few bits at the weekend and al feels like cheap rubbish you'd get in a pound shop. 4 glass's, once open the glass is so thin its a joke, same with mugs and plates. Really, really cheap and nasty.

I feel sorry for the staff losing their jobs, but if as a company their trying to pass this stuff off as quality goods I can see why they've gone done the tubes. . .

INdeed, you wouldny be surpised at the amount of breakages we get, on a side note some of our sets are damn tough, the Gentry collection for example, those mugs are tough, and pretty decent. Am in it for the staff discount on candles, and ofc the papasan chair.

i have been in a couple the past few days. Picked up a couple of candles and xmas decs thats about it :) Furniture seemed to be marked down a bit so not bad if you're looking for some.

oh dear, expect a lot more to go out of business in the new year when nobody is buying anything

retailers typically take 70 % of the whole takings for the year in nov/dec
