Communities Secretary Hazel Blears has resigned from the cabinet, increasing opposition pressure on UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown to stand down.

---------------

What it amounts to is that New Labour is crumbling around Gordon Brown's feet. The amount of lasting damage to the party will be fully determined by how stubborn the PM is. He seems to give no importance to the party he supposedly leads, and the fact is that there will not be a Labour Party in it's present form after any general election if he persists in this charade. At the moment, i'd rather have Uncle Tom Cobbley leading the country. The fact is that Brown's position is completely and utterly untenable and he is systematically destroying the Labour party from the roots up.

An election really needs to happen - just hope people are sensible when voting.

People see Brown as an unelected proxy PM, no-one has voted for a Brown premiership. Then they see the expenses row, and put the two together as one big problem with many constituent parts. All with the word 'Labour' stamped on them. Iraq, Expenses, recession, and a PM who refuses to admit that the Labour party is the problem. It all leads back to Labour, Blair and Brown. It is just a matter of weeks until his party rips him to pieces like a sacrificial lamb, just like the tories did to Thatcher.
