Completely the opposire here, thought it was quite good, not fantastic but it WAS quite good, it is all a matter of opinion, you didn't like it, the two other people I watched it with (all 3 eps in one sitting though) did.
Perhaps your humour glad has matured too much over the years, comedy does seem to have moved in a different direction lately, things such as Gavin and Stacey, The office to name but a few, but Red Dwarf was'nt what I expected after hearing so many bad comments over the weekend about it, there were multiple funny parts (wont be dropping spoilers for those that havent seen it) and the only thing missing was Holly and a background laughter track (for all the people who need to be told when to laugh!).
If you didnt like it fine, but don't put others off it please.

total dross and I would encourage anyone not to watch it but instead watch the earlier series or even the vicar of dibley or my family.

Was embarrassing having to sit through this junk then watch what a once good show had sunk to, Dave shouldn't have put repeats of the older episodes on straight after that just rubbed salt in the wounds.

I dont think I could disagree more if I tried.

While not brilliant, well worth a watch, and all the loons wanting a carbon copy of the old red dwarf are deluded.

There is much to improve - but that might come with a new series! :)

Dave shoudl be congratulated on bringing it back, but the adbreaks etc were very frustrating.

Part 1 - Meh
Part 2 - Poor
Part 3 - Excellent, especially the last 10 minutes were pretty close to being old red dwarf anyway.

as a whole? Well worth a watch, but don't expect too much.

How about we let people make up their own minds.

Your post is comical.

erm, that's my whole point! I'm mimicking what he told me! Read the posts more carefully please.

I thought it was very poor, I thought the story line was weak and just not enough great one liners like previous series.

At some points it was quite painful and seemed to forget it was supposed to be funny.

Still others may like it.

I wonder if any programme has been reignited after such a long time and actually pulled it off?

Can't think of any.

Indeed, as stated before, if people are left to watch it on their own they may or may not like it, personally I think that watching it with ad breaks and over 3 nights would have been a stretch for me also, but as I leeched the entire thing from the net and the ad breaks were edited out, it was much better for it.
If you were dissapointed by the new shows, don't come on and bash them, even if you didnt like them, some of us did, and we want more.
Go back to the re-runs and watch them again if you so wish, they will always be good as we see them through rose tinted glasses, but the new stuff was deffinetly alright.

Please show us all where exactly you were told that you are not allowed to watch Red Dwarf!
All I can see is people giving their opinions about it but maybe you read something else.

Nobody was wanting a carbon copy of red dwarf, well I wasn't anyway.

I wanted a show that made me laugh with a bit of sci fi chucked in for good measure and this heap of crap failed big time in making me laugh, honestly it was like watching eastenders do comedy, painful and the sci fi bit has been done before, better (it was the sarah jane adventures level of sci fi).

They should really quit now while they still have an ounce of dignity left, that travesty over the weekend was like watching a punch drunk boxer stumble through the ropes with man boobs then getting seven shades knocked out of him all because he just doesn't know when to quit.

It was rubbish. The show was always a bit patchy, but it had some really great moments. This was just sad. It didn't even feel like a cash in, more like a concerted effort to get the original cast out of the house.

Not funny, cheaper than ever and might actually affect the way you watch the original series.

again - as long as you admit that your post is strictly opinionated ranting, thats fine.

As for saying they should quit now etc, well thats a point to argue for and against - personally I want a new series, and despite you seeing thinking your opinion counts more than anyone elses, I'm allowed that view.

Filth: I actually disagree that the old RD was 'patchy' - I think that was the problem with the new eps - they were patchy, whereas the old stuff was genuinely classic comedy.

it wasn't that bad, i have to admit it was no where near as good as the original series but there was some really funny moments, especially in part 2. Hopefully they will make some more.

It wont affect watching the original series for me, it actually made me remember how great red dwarf is and now ive ordered all 8 series from play for £40

of course and just as you admit your post is opinionated ranting as well and just as you seem to think your opinion also counts more than anyone elses then I am also allowed to hold the opinion that they should quit flogging a dead horse.

It was a sitcom that wasn't funny. Sure it was nice to see the characters back, but it's run it's course. Let it drift off with dignity, rather than letting sentimentality ruin it's reputation.

Nope... it wasn't
#38
It was RUBBISH.
i was really hoping for something great however the story was just a bit poo. They broke the 4th wall and it didn't work. They removed the canned laughter as well which made it less funny (it just seemed a bit silent). it wasn't that witty either.

Tbh the cast are just old now. it doesnt work any more, i would love to see another series but it just wouldn't work now. Barry as Rimmer just looks tired and Danny John Jules has just lost the spark and the movement as Cat.
