So now millions of pounds of british taxpayers money is to be given to Taliban fighters who renounce violence and take a job with the afghan army or police force.

Who is coming up with these policies? are they on drugs?

So a taliban can have a wedge of cash and a job which involves carrying a gun just for saying they realise the error of their ways? and this will build a "stable" afghan police force?

I need a lie down.

Probably be better if we set up deals between pharma companies to buy their raw opium from the afghans, would would give money to the Afghans, and solve the shortage of opiate based medications and as a bonus there would be less supply to the heroin trade.

Give them a decent industry and they might just sort themselves out.

Absolute pile of crap, talk about corruption, lets just buy people over. The justification behind it is that an afghan soldier will be paid a pittance compared to the dark side.

How hypocrytical, look at soldiers pay here compared to mp's you gotta laugh really.

It's down to supply and demand. The system in this country means there are plenty of people willing to join the army.
