Quick recap - ordered my wedding dress about 6 months ago, went to collect it 3 weeks ago and it had been made 2 sizes too small, and there was no way ot was going to fit! A bit upset, I left the shop with the promise of a new dress made for me within a month.
Well, it arrived, and my mum and I went to get it yesterday. I went in, tried it on, and it fit like a dream woohoo,
Went out into the shop, and stood on the podium. Mother tried to straighten a bit of the dress where it was sitting funny. It wouldn't straighten because - there was a faffing great big hole that someone had tried to repair. The shop girl came and checked the dress. There was another faffing great big hole on the other side. Straight into dressing room, dress off. Meanwhile mother's doing her nut in, and all I was thinking was feck I have a meeting with my supervisor in two hours, need to give h2b a lift int work first and I'm getting married next month and I HAVE NO DRESS!!!!
The shop girls were frantic, phoned the shop owner and the manufacturer, promised a new dress again within 10 days but I said I had no confidence any more, I just wanted my deposit back. I left the shop with my mum, we went to the wedding dress hop over the road, explained to them what had happened and they said they coudl help. the stuck the ugliest wedding dress I have ever seen in my life over my head, and I almost cried, I said to my mum I really can't do this today, I'm getting married in a trouser suit, I just want to go home. While I was in the fitting room, my mum showed them a dress from a wedding book, and surprise surprise, they had it in stock. It was plonked over my head too, but when i looked in the mirror WOW I loved it, even more than my original dress!!
The lady went and phoned the manufacturer, explained what had happened, and they have saved the day, they have one in my size which they are posting to me now, it will be here next week, and they are not charging me a rush fee.
Still awake? lol
Back to the original shop to get my deposit back, and they were fantastic, offering me the original dress for free, they'd even go with me to a dressmaker and have the repairs done (and while I was out they had inspected it, there were a lot of repairs needed) but I said no thanks, I really have gone off the dress now. I got home, and sent a letter to the manufacturer of the original dress, and then off to uni....
Came home to two phone calls...one from the original wedding dress shop saying they will refund me the money for my bridesmaids' dresses as they want to compensate me for my trouble - £400 woohoo
Second from the dress manufacturer., I'd had a veil custom made to match my original dress, obviously doesn't match my new one at all, and he says I am to go to the original dress shop, take whatever I need by way of veils jewellery etc and he will pay for it !!
So, it's been stressful but fingers crossed it's all sorted now - or at least it will be next week when my new dress comes!
