Hi all,
My partners birthday is in May and we have already booked a hotel near Westminster, but i'd like to take her to a show. Its not really my thing so I know nothing about the shows themselves.

I've heard the Lion King is good? Can anyone recommend anything else which is good?.

What about prices and seats etc? I don't want to be right at the back. Are some theatres better than others (certain shows etc) Is it better to book in advance?

Thanks in advance.

lion king is good-actually every show is "good" depending on your viewpoint-oliver is excellent, phantom of the opera and the new lloyd webber "love never dies" opens next week-if you want a particular show then you will need to book in advance-you can pay up to 70 quid a ticket for a good seat at a top show.I really liked jersey boys and wicked.

if you arent bothered about which show you see then go to the tkts booth in leicester square on the day of the show-you will get tickets half price for a selection of shows.

Hairspray is a fab one that makes you come out with a smile on your face. I loved it. I'd far rather leave the theatre happy then depressed like some of the heavier musicals make you feel! :-D:-D:-D

Hairspray is finishing soon in the West End, I think!

I saw Priscilla Queen of the Desert, which was fantastic, but you really need to see the film first to see if you like that sort of humour - ping pong balls will never be the same again lmao !! p.s. Think I was the only straight guy in theatre and felt totally underdressed lol !!
Also seen the Jersey Boys & Rat Pack, which again if you like that sort of music you will love.

Phatom of the Opera at the Haymarket Theatre, Its been on there non stop since it began and always has a full audience. The best show ive ever seen, and probably ever will see. Im a drama student and have seen all west end shows at least once. Including all the new ones... Jersey Boys is a good one.

So overall The Must-see's if your going to see a couple are

Phantom of the Opera - MUST SEEE - Book Wayyy In adcanve and get a Stall Seat for this theatre (Her Majesty's Theatre) - Around £45
Les Mis
Wicked (Sounds lame, Critically acclaimed and loved my many)
Lion King is AMAZING too, but i saw it on broadway - Sure its just as good in London.
