Has anyone taken this recently? I have it booked pretty soon and was just wondering what the hazard perception part is like? I have the interactive DVD but it isn't working properly! Is it pretty easy or should I practise like mad?

It is all really just common sense the theory test. The perception test just puts you in front of the monitor as if it were the windscreen of your car. It's really not that difficult.

One thing to remember, the perception test is there to make sure the examiner is safe to get in a car with you. It is in a way a H&S practice. If you have driven round with your examiner or family member, and they weren't petrified, you should be just fine. It's a lot easier to do it here rather than with someone you don't know sitting next to you.

Good luck.

Thanks for that, I know most of it is common sense just hope that nerves don't get to me! I'm putting in for my practical test as soon as I have passed this so fingers crossed!

Basically click when you see something move, you can click LOADS of times just don't do it randomly.

16 isn't that much! And I know that there is one 'major' hazard in the video clip and the quicker you spot it the more points you get, i.e 5 points for spotting it right away, then it goes down to 4 and so on, I think this is what the final test score will be on!

out of the 10 clips or so one of the clips has 2 hazards = 10 points. the rest are worth 5 - make sure you concentrate hard and don't relax for a second until all the clips have finished - this is where most people fail!!!

just remember this: anything that can make you slow down, stop or change road position is classed as a hazard

theres 14 clips, one with a double hazard. remember you are looking for DEVELOPING hazards but the clip will contain POTENTIAL hazards as well. if you click these you wont get marked down so dont worry if you do click on one and it isnt a developing one.

REMEMBER: a developing hazard is one that causes you to change SPEED or DIRECTION. bear that in mind and you'll do fine. keep practising and you'll soon learn how to stop developing hazards.

Good Luck!!

Thanks  I think it sounds a bit misleading, I know you have to click for developing hazards, like you said, for things that make you change speed or directions, but I have heard some people say that you should just click every hazard you see? Surely you might get done for clicking 'too' much?

Need to get that DVD sorted to just see how it is
