Things to do with kids in Slough-Windsor

Going to Legoland on Sunday. Might leave my 8month old daughter with my mum and dad so will be with the 7 year old son and almost 4 yr old. We are going up on Saturday and staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Sligh-Windsor, so were hoping to do something fun for the kids on the Saturday.

I checked out Windsor Castle on Tripadvisor and it sounds a little boring for kids? any other ideas or is Windsor Castle fab?

TIA

I was there in July. Slough is a tad boring, just your usual town with a shopping centre. We went to London on the train from Slough. It was £7.00 odds return and that included your underground ticket.

Drop them off in the neighbouring village and see how good they are at hide and seek?? ;)

Anyway.........Windsor Castle is a nice walk round. :)

Jeez.... Don't go to Slough...... It's a proper dump!

See if you can pop in and see the queen?

Good luck with Logoland. I'd imagine the queues are going to be horrendous!

Theres not alot to do in Slough though agreed. Best bet is do some sight seeing in windsor perhaps? theres a nice park there, feed the swanns and ducks , also some small rides for younger children. And the high street is nearby so you can eat there. Also boat trips available here.

The Runnymede Pleasure Gardens are nice, if the weather is good. Just down the road from Legoland. They have a splash pool, playground and boat rides etc. If I remember correctly, you only need to pay for parking (I haven't been there for years).

Wise choice to leave the baby with your Mum. Would recommend keeping away from Slough.

MB they have fantastic swimming pool in Windsor, I remember if fondly as a kid. Huge wave machine for the whole pool . Let me know when you go so I can catch you in your bikini :p

"Listen out for the "Storm Warning". Feel the excitement build as you look forward to surfing the waves.

All the water features are such splashing fun! Aqua thrills for everyone; with Monsoon and Cyclone the two Giant Slides, Wild Water Creek, Olly the Octopus and his Water Cannons, the umbrella fountain and even a chance to relax in the poolside Bubble Tubs. Toddlers enjoy splashing about on the Beach and slide into our water on our Sandcastle slide."

I've been to the pool too in Windsor,it's nice, time you stand about in Legoland though you won't feel like doing too much else.

Well having been to the Legoland when it first opened I don't know what it's like now, I preferred Windsor pool :)

it's one of the very few memories I have with my Dad :(

If you don’t want to wait in long queues make sure you buy a Q-Bot it’s like a virtual queue system so you put in what ride you want to go on and it holds your position in the queue so you can walk around go to eat etc.. when you have 10mins or so remaining it will let you know to make your way to the ride.

Also make sure to buy a drinks vessel its £7 but free refills all day at any restaurant much cheaper than buying individuals drinks every 10mins especially if it’s hot, or you can just take some plastic cups and get one vessel filled up numerous times.

Hi if you have a car you can go to beale park which is reading direction its a nice day out with kids. There is odds farm towards high wycombe a tad pricey but great for all ages with lots of nice iutdoor play areas animals a sand pit area outdoors plus large indoor soft play or there is hounslow urban farm towards feltham which is quite a small farm but cheaper than odds and has bouncy castles inc in price indoors and a daily owl show pig races and animal encounters with all sorts from rabbits to snakes. Basic but cheaper. There is also thorpe park in staines but not sure the rides suited to the smaller ones there 8 yr old wud love it though! Datchet do expensive but nice boats to hire for half or full day up the river which is fun or you can drive an hr from slough up to milton keynes way to woburn safari park which is brilliant. Id avoud the living rainforest in reading tho its nice for an hr or 2 with under 5swill bore your older one i recon. Windsor has a nice leisure center swim pool which has a wave machine one flume one free type slide and some sprinkler bits in the shallows for toddlers. Burnham beeches is a nice walk n picnic as is langley country park or black park in slough and good for kids to run off energy n not hilly like windsor great park which admittedly is beautiful. You could also try heading into london 30 mins on train to paddington from slough or 20 on a fast and then go off to hamleys toy store the london aquarium (pricey but good) or there is a really cool science museum free entry or the nat history museum free but if you want to stay more local there is also jumptastic in slough which is a giant trampoline n soft play place or slough ice skating arena which caters for all ages. Ten pin boqling in maidenhead or slough slough one has a small soft play but its more for younger ones there are a few arcade games there tho hope that all helps ! X
