I think the army are totally useless.

Just found out an old friend of mine had been killed in the army last night, the fault was apparently the boiler and flames erupted and they got trapped. I think its totally useless from their point of view that 2 soldiers have needlessly died at the apparent lack of safety and in such tragic circumstances in camp bastion!

RIP Hutchy, and to all soldiers that have fallen for our country.

Perhaps you should know the full story. Accidents happen in ALL workplaces. The army aren't crap and I'm proud to work with them (_;)

Yes it is a major shame, but do you know the full story?

Noone knows the full story as of yet, but its being looked into. Im sorry, but the soldiers are fighting for their country the last thing they need or want is to feel insecure in the only place they can really class as a safe place.

I'll reserve more of my opinions until it's fully out. But right now, the only people that appear to be at blame, is the army.

Rubbish, no place is safe whilst there on tour, constant mortar attacks throughout the night etc. Accidents do happen, i agree that our kits should be updated, more given when needed, and the cut backs that the delightful government are now dishing out, all need looking into properly, but i don't for one second class Army on a whole for this tragic accident.
How do you know it wasn't your mates job to monitor the boiler whilst there? I mean, in all fairness when you have RPG's on your ass at all hours of the day, your admin checks tend to lack priority. The story is unknown, and is being investigated, until then nobody can spout off blame.

God I hate it when people say they are fighting for their country. They are fighting for the wages they earn and because of a politicians whim.

Sorry to her about the loss of your friend. .

He was probably smoking a fag within 50m of the boiler? Don't jump to conclusions calling the army useless, besides its the contractors that deal with maintenance.

How many death's have been known to happen whilst IN camp bastion? The death count in that respect for me, say's its alot safer.

Perhaps i should rephrase what you highlighted in Bold "The safest place they're gonna get"

That is quite a statement. Of course wages come into it but do you really think thats the only reason why they do it?

Perhaps you should actually go there, and then tell me if its safe? I can tell you from experience, no place in that country is "safe". Plus do you hear of the deaths of the AMP's etc that are killed in camp, in this country? No, so unfortunatly you can't really do any pie charts, bar graphs based on what you hear from the british press.

Don't forget the discount from Dominos pizza also, and the Burger king motorway services.
