What anti-virus software do you have and have you done a full scan?
#2
It will be a trojan, you should have some protection on your PC if your downloading P2P especially

Either download a free anti virus if you don't already have one or Kasperky offers a free 30 day trial

avg the free one, is it any good? :) had norton but it was making my pc so sloooow!
just doing a scan now but seems odd it wont let me delete it from my libary?

lol im a shopaholic not really good with pcs so im useless when it comes to all this (i know i know i should stay away from limewire!)

I've had a similar problem before and mine was a simple explination.... Because I hadn't closed the program I use to download, the actual downloaded file was still 'being used' and because of this, I couldn't delete it.

Is there any possibility yours could be something similar? Hope so, because it sounds better than the alternative
#6
try renaming it and then delete it

Agree with most of what has already been said by others - the two Anti Virus software packages above are really very good - and free... Well worth a go...

Limewire is soooo tempting sometimes, but we all know its NAUGHTY!!!!

Now then - Im sure it (hope it) wont be anything you cant get rid of...
#8
unable to rename it and no not using it!

had this plenty of times on limewire! and i simply moved the icon to the desktop then dragged it into the recycle bin. It works for me lol.

Make sure you've done the updates for AVG (otherwise the scan will be a little pointless)
Norton does tend to slow the machine down, but we've had no problems with AVG at all.. recommend it to a lot of people. Just because it's free doesn't mean it doesn't work!
;)
Charlie&Lola could be right about the file being still in use issue.. that's good old Windoze for you.
I'd 1) download avg + updates
2) reboot machine and shut down as much running apps as possible
3) scan the machine..

Is it sorted? sometimes you can rename the folder then delete the folder with the file in it, move all your files you want to keep into another folder first of course
#19
if you have to use lime wire then all you have to do is : in the search results right click on the item you want then click on advanced then click on lookup file with bitzi a new window will open and if the file contains any problems people would of reported it

Bit stupid anouncing your downloading copyrighted material in a public forum, didnt you see the news today? woman fined £16,000 for sharing one file?

By the way in case you didnt know, Limewire sets you up to share what you download automatically and it does it in several different hard to find options, so unless you go looking deeply into every option your announcing to the public what you have to share on your computer every time you use that program
