Hi i had to send a package out to china, i handed it in at the post office on the 5th but the person that i sent it to has still not recieved any it. when i was sending it i asked the lady at the post office if there was any way i could track it but she said no. i checked on the royal mail site and there is a way to track it. i know its still early but if the person says he hasnt recieved it in say a weeks time then could i claim off royal mail by saying that at the the time i was told you could not track it but you can and i was not told that?

Did you send it by International Signed-for ?

Royal Mail have limited liability for international items when a third part is involved, in this case Chinese postal service.

As I said earlier, RM's liability is limited for International Mail.

Give them a call to see if they can do anything (01752 387112 - Customer Services & 01752 387060 - International Helpline) :)

If it was posted on the 5th then i'd allow a bit more time. It's only been 7 days including a weekend. They aim to deliver in 5 but it can take longer.

You have to allow 3-4 weeks to claim for a lost delivery in this country so they won't let you claim for a missing parcel to china yet.

How heavy was it?
If you went for the cheapest postal service then that will be surface mail, which can take 56 days.

I think it should tell you on your CoP what service was used.
If you know the weight and price you paid it's easy to find out, here.
