what do you mean by "say yes" ?

The scam is that they word things to try and get you to say yes then they edit the recording to try and claim you said yes to enter into a contract for something apparently

I regularly get calls from "BT openreach" saying my broadband isn't working properly. I tell them I'm not with BT and they say no problem , they ask me to switch on my pc/laptop so they can check my settings (do they really expect people to fall for that.)when I tell them I only have a tablet they hang up. Now I keep a whistle by the phone just for their calls :D

It's come to a point that I will happily chance swearing to a Real Talk Talk representative. I think they probably deserve it anyway.

I've never thought about it, but they do seem to hate it when I refuse to say yes to their "we will pass this information on to....", they repeat a few times, I just say "no" and they give up :)

I like to waste their time saying "virus you say?!, that's why my PC is so slow!" pretend to switch it on and every 5min when they ask is it on? just say "no it's still on the windows screen" X)

I do too. Literally asking them to explain everything.
"Please switch on your pc/laptop"
"what does it look like?"
"a grey flat thing with a screen and a keyboard"
"ok, how do I switch it on?"
"press the power button"
"what does it look like?"

And on and on until they hang up.

can you link me to the thread talking about how error got 'one of those scam calls' please?

Cant see how this would even work, you enter into a verbal contract over the phone just by saying the word yes and they scam you for cash.

Unless they play the call back to you and try and convince you to pay cash to get out of the contract, maybe aimed at the venerable?

The new number the BT scammers are using this week is 007145 so if you got caller display dont answer it.

Fanpages will tell you This one is even older, but I bet he could find a talk talk scam thread on HUKD before the scammers even thought about scamming.
