Thinking of buying a citroen c2...anyone got any reviews?

Hi Everyone,
I'm looking at buying a citroen c2, the 1.6i VTR petrol senseodrive one.
I'm not really a car person and neither is my husband, so don't really know about all the little details.
If anyone has one of these, or knows someone who has or has had one of these, can you please let me know what you thought to it?
Thanks
xXx

It's French, it will break down.

well historically Citroen has faired poorly on reliability and build quality but on the flip side they are usually cheap to buy, insure and repair [relatively]. I cant say I have any experience of the C2 specifically though but I would just take time to check out all the competition ad dont be afraid to haggle like mad/walk away if you dont get a 'good' deal, after all the car industry is, like most other sectores, feeling the pinch, especially now the scrappage scheme is history....

good luck :)

Stock to footy shaun.

My wife's last 3 cars (from 2003) have been a C2, peugeot 107 and a Clio 1.5 diesel. Not a problem with any of them. Out of the 3 the C2 was her fave.

Hasn't the C2 VTR got the semi-auto gearbox, if so it is nasty, try doing a 3 point turn!!

Better off going for the C2 VTS or the Furio as they come with manual gearboxes.

Also bear in mind that there is virtually no boot.

JD Power survey

Citroen C2
Score 75.8%
Overall ranking Overall 96th

Second from last in the supermini class last year, the Citroen C2 shares bottom spot this time.

On the plus side, the C2 proved quite cheap to run. In particular, owners said fuel consumption was pleasingly low.

That's pretty much the end of the good news. Dealer facilities weren't up to scratch and cars weren't always ready for collection when they should be.

Reliability was another concern. Too many owners complained of problems with the engine and transmission, and even more faults inside the cabin.

If the Citroen was a more enjoyable car to drive and travel in, perhaps owners would have forgiven it, but low scores for vehicle appeal sealed the C2's fate.

I love the "it's French it will break" comments. It's a very quick way to show you don't know what your talking about!! Sure, french cars don't have the reliability of their more expensive German or Japanese counterparts but that doesn't mean you are buying an expensive tin they are still good cars on the whole.

Ignore those sort of people they still think skoda's are skips.

couldnt be more wrong! I think skodas fabias are excellent :p

there is a reason all the french cars are bottom of the reliability studies. They are less reliable lol

Being French,

It's a fact they tend to be more unreliable, However that doesn't mean every French car, Just in general.

I couldn't really give any advice as I wouldn't buy a French car myself, The op asked for an opinion and that's mine.

Just dropped kids off at school, Was funny that a Renault wouldn't start lol.

As for Skoda's they used to be very bad cars, Now though as VW own and build them I wouldn't think twice about having one..!!! Fantastic cars.
