Ok to cut a long story short this troublesome citroen c5 was put into yet another garage recommended by the rac,the rac in fact took it there, they put it on a diagnostic machine and said the fault was a low pressure fuel pump,ok they changed it at a cost of £450,theyve today taken the car out to test it on the road and again its conked out, theyve rung and said " so it isnt that part we now want to change the high pressure fuel pump at a cost of an extra £550!"
it seems so much money is being thrown at this car and they will not guarentee that changing the high pressure pump will cure the problem, now the car has had another £450 spent on it for nothing, they said the part is not returnable and will not take it off the car,are there any consumer rights on this? as they diagnosed the fault, changed the part and now are saying its another part?

Hold up, they admitted the part they replaced didnt actualy need replacing? Then are refusing to rectify that? Is the car under no warranty at all? Sounds like with all the trouble you have been having that you are buying another complete C5 in kit form. I would try asking consumer direct for advice as surely the service of the garage is beyond a joke telling you parts need replacing when they dont!

Its simply disgusting the way this has been dealt with.

Is the garage part of a citroen main dealers? If so contact citroen direct, this worked with a renault dealers we had grief with.

no its not a citroen delaer, its been into the citroen dealers a couple of weeks ago and had a load of sensors changed,it then drove for 13 miles before conking out, thats when the rac picked it up and took it to this recommended garage, who then run their tests, said it was the low pressure pump and changed it and it now isnt that!

I had the same sort of problem with a Citroen dealer, they told me that my saxo wasn't over heating, it was just a broken temperature sensor, cost me a couple of hundred pounds for nothing, I had to take it back 2 weeks later with a blown head, they said it wasn't their fault and charged £450 for fitting a new head gasket

It does sound like the problems stem from them not sorting it correctly the first time, the best garages I find to be are the local smaller independent garages. Ask people locally for their recomendations.

Well i'd be looking for a refund then. Under the sale of goods act the car should be fit for purpose ie driving which it obviously isn't.

The garage is liable regardless if they say there's no warranty etc.

You need to get some advice on returning the car.

Act quickly but I'm pretty sure they will have to refund you, you've obviously had countless issues since buying it.
