Thats poor, i mean really poor. We had that conversation in the feedback thread and to be honest it seemed as if no-one could be bothered. "The is a link, get on with it" was pretty much what i got from it all to be fair.

To be pm'd by a mod to be told not to alert others about possible scams is (well I want to swear here but wont) POOR and I would expect nothing less than a public apology from the Mod with an explination as to why they think it is acceptable to comment like that when all you / we / us are doing is to help them and others out with their safety on the boards?

Also, why are mods not publically making it clear that people have been banned and not to deal with the OPs in these cases? Surely this is to the benefit of everyone? Leaving threads open is just asking for trouble IMHO .

Ahh, my mistake. You've never been one for punctuation before. :)
banned#19
they where banned for flouting the rules, not scamming, so probably a day ban, then tomorrow they will be back, trouble is nobody reads all threads now because the op is on ever page, as you yourself simon have just proved by asking the same banned member for a piccie - lol

That post by Sassie says it did happen Saint.

Sassie was posting in a few threads aking questions and alerting people to a possible scam. The Mod Pm;s Sassie to tell her that she is thread spoiling.

When did alerting people about a possible scam or asking for pictures etc get regarded as thread spoiling?

you know what thesaint i have reported stuff here, thats been left up for hours, i have reported stuff via pm to a mod about my concerns and they have listed, watched and acted on it, but sometimes you do get dragged into screaming at people not to buy, they get a one day ban and i get left with a really thankful pm  maybe they should listen abit more to those that are doing all the chuffin work and reporting, cause it aint them thats patrolling is it

Can i confirm greyskittles is a scammer or not?

BTW Good work sassie :)

Whats more disturbing for me guys is this...

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/137400/wanted-broken-lg-chocolate/

this is a point in case, how does a user who may not have seen the other thread know that mussindabox has been banned?

From what i can see they can't realise this from this thread alone.

Can mussindabox log in and get his pm's being banned? If so whats stopping a member PM'ing him direct and getting scammed?

Its all wrong. Really it is, and needs to be looked at, quickly IMHO
banned#31
if they have banned under their name, they cannot get to pm's. If they have a for sale ban (no ban under their name) then they can pm, hope this helps, got to sleep now xxx

The thing is, if greyskittles has scammed, he/she is still openly posting on MSE - and posted a thread about selling an xbox pro

That post was an interpretation. PM stands for private message. They should stay exactly that unless the other party agrees(in my opinion).

sassie

I will say that you are sometimes a bit OTT in your "Scambusting", I know that you are doing it for all the right reasons, but you can't protect people from themselves, you will burn yourself out and when you get banned the "eggers on" won't be the ones keeping in touch to see if you are okay

I think you need to ask 1 or 2 pertinent questions and then leave the interested parties to figure out why the potential scammer has not put up a picture etc.

I asked someone earlier for a picture and receipt, it has been ignored. The rest that are interested will have to guess themselves why the pictures have not been published as promised, and why the receipt for something over £400 that is weeks old has yet to be found.

The person i'm referring to may not be a scammer, but there are enough things to concern me at this time.

Sassie, I certainly don't always agree with everything the Saint writes but in the case of his last post here he is dead correct (IMO)
Take a long deep breath and look at it in the cold light of day, you will get very little thanks from any party by trying to help with scammers.

Sad as that may seem it is the absolute truth and borne out of experience. The people who get scammed on the FS/FT forum in the main have nobody else but themselves to blame. There are very few that lose money/items on there that don't do so because they haven't read the rules or applied them or used common sense in the transaction.

In the remote cases that the member gets scammed through no fault of themselves I would be the first to help as would probably most HUKD'ers but in the time I have been on here I actually can't remember 1 single case

As for policing the FS/FT forum to put in very bluntly that's neither your's nor mine responsibilty. Of course it's great to be part of the community and help others, of course it's great to out a potential scammer and of course it's good to see genuine people not lose their money.
I wouldn't ever stop reporting if I suspected something dodgy was going on, however getting yourself upset and angry is certainly not going to do you any good is it ?

Nobody suspects your passion and motives Sassie, I think you are a great member of HUKD for whatever that's worth, but I do shudder and fear for your blood pressure sometimes when you react so "passionately" !

Hope you can take the above in the spirit that it's written, which is friendly concern. I always look forward to reading your posts and wouldn't want to be without my daily dose of Sassie !!

Take care
Tony :)
