Threat to 6,500 jobs as Threshers goes into administration bit naughty i think

tesco - asda - morrisons - all to blame

The hunt is on to find a buyer for the troubled company behind the off-licence chain Threshers after the formal appointment of KPMG as administrators tonight.

The retailer's parent company, First Quench Retailing, confirmed that it had gone into administration and issued a statement confirming that its 6,500 staff would be paid until at least the end of next week.

Or maybe the people who didn't shop there?

Or Threshers buyers who didn't get enough clout for good deals. etc etc.

How can you blame supermarkets for giving consumers what they want?

what is threshers?
what do their workers do?

I am glad to be honest.

I think all off licenses should be shut down. Round here they are a breeding ground for chavs hanging outside asking me to go in for them every time I pass.

I'm not surprised as Threshers was so expensive, and only became reasonably priced when they had the 40% off vouchers.

i didnt realise there was that many people working for them syz

still not big enough to compete with the big boys

just a shame for the workers though - run up to xmas

Jobs being lost is a shame but nobody wants to pay more for something a supermarket is selling for cheaper.

Less selection than a big supermarket wine dept at twice the price. Used to be they had a lot of specialist bins but lately they are the same £5 cheap mass market bottles of plonk that the supermarkets sell - only the supermarkets are selling them 3 for a tenner. Sorry for the staff but that is the way of life.

Why dont the suits listen to the general public ?
All these people would still be in work if they priced agressively.

Definately a shame for the workers. Not nice to lose a job at anytime but especially this time of year. But this is the way things are going now as 'we' demand more value for money then these businesses will bite the bullet.

I miss having a local butchers, greengrocers etc. but they weren't competitive and all but the Butchers didn't change and have now gone from here.

Good god didn't know they were still about !! Had one in our village changed to a rythmn and booze about 6 years ago! Thought they'd gone bust then ok well as mentioned high prices and hardly any choice isn't good

I don't buy alcohol, as I am a teetotaler, but even I knew they were overpriced. Sad news for the employees though.

our local one closed 3 months ago, quite a few threshers were also franchises...

They were overpriced and it's where all the kids buy the booze, never got asked ID in there, even at 15 :o
