Three (3) mobile contract - I need out...

I'm actually considering paying out of the 12 months i have left.

IT IS THAT BAD :-(

Can't get signal in my house, used to be OK but not any more.. thats the strange thing. For about a month now i have had to call out to someone who had sent me a message. For example, i send a txt out, my GF txts back 5mins later. An hour later i have no new txts or the one she replied with. I then ring her, and they all come through whilst on the phone.

I have tried several 3g phones and same problem.

Great deal yes, but i would never consider three again. I am considering paying out my contract to get a reliable phone (10x£20 :-( though).

Anyone ever had any success in complaining and getting out their contract at a reduced rate??

Wont help much but my 3 reception is great.

I did have problems with their customer serves though and eventually complained to the CE. Spoke to an English call centre (remember them?!) and got about £65 compo - havent got the details but I googled the info.

My reception out of the house is overall OK, however do get a lot of droped calls. But txts come through fine most of the time. If your in London i think you will be pretty safe. 3G in the Middlesbrough area is quite populated however obviously not that great!!
#3
Ive had a similar problem.. when my gf was living in lancaster she would txt me and i wouldnt get it for hours.. sometimes days. Now shes back down here its fine most of the time. The signal is really really iffy though
#4
It's pointless in having the phone if its not going to receive messages etc!

What can i do though. It annoys me that the network ain't kept up their part of the contract / agreement but i still can't get out of it.
#5
Can't even phone ANYBODY at the moment, but the phone says full 3G signal.

You tried going back to the shop?

When i was having the problems they said they might swap the phone over if it kept happening
#7
Went to the shop today.

He asked how often i turn the phone off. - Which is about every 2 weeks. He said try turning on and off morning and evening and this should cure the problem. I though this was a joke. I mean, who buys a mobile phone, to turn it on and off twice a day for it to work :-(

I need out :-(
#8
surley they are not providing you with a service you are paying for, if you cant ring or anything.

I'd like to think that was enough reason to cancel

If that is genuinely what he's said, it sounds like he is admitting its not fit for purpose!

My connection lately is hurrendous. 3 to any other network is fairly poor but 3 to 3 is almost impossible, cuts out all the time and quality of sound is awful.

As a point of interest i know when they make a change to the terms and conditions of your contract you can usually opt out, i had a text from them yesterday saying that they were now going to charge for paper billing and you had the option on their website to change to an E-Bill, to save the extra £1 they are charging.

Would this class as a change worthy of opting out of your contract? Im sick of my phone and 3 and want to change over to O2 where i know i will get a better signal (girlfriend and one of my mates are on 02 and never have a problem)

If you do opt out like this do you have to return the phone? because my Nokia N95 has fallen to bits, back panel came off, side panel is cracked, memory card cover came off, and i kept good care of it.

Call uk Customer Service on 08707330295 (this is MD office)

Tell them all problems you have had, they will try to fob you off and ask where you got the number but say you will send email to them and ask for address.

Say you want compensation for all time you have had no signal or service etc or say you will go to otello if you are unable to cancel.

Hope this helps???

Will give this a go. Thanks. Has this worked for yourself or others in the past though?

I'm starting to think the only way to get out of it is to pay out. From what i have read and heard Three trap you in once they have you.

My GF just got a text that says " From 3, theres a £1 charge for itemised paper bills from the 20th of October.
Switch to e-bills and don't pay a penny" does this mean a change in her terms and conditions?
If so that would warrent a termination of the contrct, maybe you can get this if that is what it can do?

There have been a couple of threads on here about this & there's also a LONG one on mse.

They won't let you cancel due to the itemised billing charge because it's always said in their price guide that they were going to charge for it eventually.

3 are also rounding all short calls up to a minute. If this affects you, you should be able to cancel. Unfortunately, this doesn't apply to Mix & Match contracts.

I tried to cancel mine (Mix & Match 1100) due to the itemised billing charge but they weren't having any of it!

Phoned normal 333 number and complained, and i'm supposed to be getting a call back. After all that i will phone the number provided on this thread and kick off there. See what compensasion i can get and leave.

Tonight, my GF txted me saying she was on her way to mine at 17:40. 9:40 were watching a movie, and my phone goes. It's her txt just coming through!!!!???

Anyone know if i do pay out the contract, is it instant? I pay £200 tomrrow can i get my PAC code?? or is there a period of cancellation? HOPE NOT!!! Cheers.

Hello Ajay87

I have just been reading the problems you have been having with the Three UK network. I recommend you do the following:

Writing a letter to Three UK using the following address and sending it via recorded delivery.

Hutchison 3G UK ltd.,
The Executive Office,
123 St. Vincent Street,
Glasgow,
G2 5EA

Making sure you outline all the problems you are having with the Three Network and include any problems you are having with the handset provided by Three UK. Also make sure you say you spoke to custmer services who cannot resolve the issue, and its been ongoing for about x months. Say you need to stay in contact with children at school etc, etc and the service is unreliable therefore you want a cancellation free of charge and if they will not corporate BBC Consumer Watching and Ofcom will be contacted. If you write a draft letter and send it via PM ill have a look at it if your going down this root!.....Good Luck!

Kind Regards
#18
Thank you for the advice qazim. Rep added  Will draft up a letter over the next few days when i have time and PM it to you for a check over :)
#19
no problem, the sooner the better!
#20
Sent it off today. Will keep you updated on the outcome.

I also got another call from 3 tech support saying they will send a new SIM out.

I think Three head office will take one look at the letter, then a look at my account and send me a letter back saying it looks like your problem may have been sorted out. Will be a bit mad if they do!!

That's what i thought, but it's an option they hadn't already tried so had to give them chance. Yeah, sent it recorded delivery so will give them until end of next week to reply.

I have exactly the same problems. I got my contract though "free mobiles 4 u" and wish I had never bothered. I tried to cancel the contract within about 8 days of having it cause it was dropping calls not sending texts for hours on end and I wasnt getting replies. When I called them (free mobiles 4 u) I was told I only had 7 days to send the phone back and that was over. I was also only allowed to send it back within the 7 days if I hadnt used the phone. Now I dont know how your meant to know if it works if you dont try it first like!! :?

Ive been on and off the phone to 3 with no joy. They told me if I had got the contract through them then I would of had 14 days to return it as it was there was nothing they could do.

Mine is an 18 month contract at £35 a month so to pay it off would cost me well over £500!!!

I tried explaing to them that I am pregnant and this is the only phone I have for emergency's etc but nope nothing they could do but blame it on the phone when I know its the network not the phone!!

Im fed up and dont know what to do, ive tried calling, writing and emailing and the only option the give me is to buy my contract out!!
#24
Sorry to hear about your problems too MrsBrightside.
I'll let you know how i get on, but not feeling too confident after reading your comments. I shall see.

Even if they offer compensation, and a discounted price to buy out, i'm willing to do so, just to get a phone which works all the time!!! Thankfully i'm only on £20 with 11 months left. Still, its £220 but if they offer a way out for £110 i'll take it.

Letter was received today however havn't heard anything as of yet. I would guess they will write back (eventually, if at all!)
#25
Fantastic. I now have no phone at all to use.

They seem to of made the sim in my current phone inactive. I have not received my replacement sim!

Great stuff Three! Thanks.

Wishful thinking but maybe they took my letter seriously and disconnected me all together for free...

Can;t even ring 3 to shout at them off my phone. Will have to use the house phone and rack up a bill.
#26
^^ has HQ got back 2 u ? yet
#27
Not as yet, but if they have tried to contact me on my mobile they are pretty much out of luck!! I'll give them a little more time. They may have rang the house but i'm not sure as i'm out all day.

Went in to the three store on a break, and tried to keep my anger at bay! They phoned tech support to see if the sim i have could be re-activated, and the new sim i will just destroy. Couldn't. So i still havn't got a phone which works!

Ever heard of Bulldog Broadband?

Anyway, i had unexplainable bill for £90.....they lost my direct debit details....so they contacted me asking for them again.......i said im not paying by direct debit again as you LOST my details....they said that's the only form of payment direct debit.......never paid..............

Bailiff letter came, i was told i had to write to bailiffs explaning why i am not paying........wrote a letter never got a reply and its been about 2 years....i dunno maybe it was luck or they saw i was in the right!
#31
They have to be the worst network I have ever been with! totally shocking customer service. Like you if they even offered to pay half of mine I would pay the rest.

Im going to call my old provider and see if they want to help as I have spent alot of money with them over the past 18 month. I know my sisters friend did this with his old network and they paid off the contract for him. Cant see it happening with mine tho due to the cost that's outstanding.

To top it all off they sent me a txt today to say im going to be charged for paper billing... stupid bloody company make me sooo mad!

I dont know if this will help you but my old contract was through phone 4 u. They called me today to ask if I wanted an upgrade so I explained how I had signed up to 3 and the trouble I was having. They told me to go into store and they would try and help my pay out my contract. They were telling me they can pay you upto £250 so might be worth you speaking to them??? im def going to have a word with them one day next week and see if they can help me?

i think that will only work if he brought it from Phones4U and I think they will out payout if you upgrade with them?

NEVER EVER do that - unfortunately this will affect your credit rating so carry on paying even though you're getting thoroughly bent over and shafted.

If it was me i would have sent letters to OFCOM, Watchdog, Trading Standards and been to the CAB by now just to see where i stand.

You're effectively giving someone £20 per month and getting absolutely nothing in return.

Pull your finger out - get back to the three store and go apesh*t at them.

I would.

I didnt get my 3 contract through Phones4U I got mine from a different supplier but my contact that I had with vodafone previous to my 3 contract was through Phones4U so that's why they called me up. I explained everything to them and they seemed very willing to help and like I said they were saying on the phone that they could help me and pay off some of the contract which would be great!

def worth going into a phones4u store and seeing if they can help!
#38
I hate Phones4u with a passion too! Had some bad experiances with them in the past, so would tend to stay away but if things get worse and i have no other option i may do.

Currently waiting for a call from their Customer services, who will then be able to advise me on what compensation they may give me due to the problems i have had.

You get no where in store, Neiliboy. They just say contact the customer services and tech team by ringing 333. And as i didn't get it from the store they are not too interested either.

No reply from the letter as of yet, and will see what the phone call brings in terms of a deal out - not that i should be paying much out! Today, the guy on the phone said it would be £283 to pay out my contract today. Now 10 x 20 aint really hard is it?! He could not explain to me how he gets £283!

May give them a call tomorrow. Will be interesting to see what Three say, and if they actually offer me anything. Ain't heard nothing back from that letter :-(

Tonight, my GF sent me a message to say she was on her way over. She arrived, and at 9:30pm, 4 hours after she arrived, i got it! Fantastic hey
