Three '3' Mobile Network Feedback Please

I am considering moving from O2 to Three '3' as O2 are offering very poor upgrade deals and no incentive to stay.

By moving to Three I will have a like for like deal plus @ £80 Quidco cashback and new handset at no extra charge.

I use my phone mainly for business so the service and quality of calls is essential.

I am with Three for mobile broadband with no problems at all.

Can people currently on Three please let me know how they find the service, quality of calls etc etc to help me with my decision.

I am open to hear negative comments too, but please none of the 'keep away from 3' 'steer clear from 3' etc without real reason.

Thanks,

Steve

To be honest I think that 3 are a great network. I was with them when they first started, and i think more due to the first generation of 3G hardware it was hard to make a call without it being dropped, I went back to them a year or so ago and that's all changed. What a lot of people don't realise is that 3 only have a 3G network, but then have an agreement with Orange to piggyback on their 2G network whenever 3G isn't available. As Orange have good coverage across the country, you should find that you have good signal wherever you go.

I've had a lot of problems with Three, mainly with signal quality. Very poor in my area, even though it's "3G High speed broadband area". I got tempted by the £80 quidco, and good deals by Three, and signed up in March. Worst thing i've ever done. Still complaning now to try and get the problems sorted out. I often have late text messages, up to 4 hours late after they were sent!, loads of dropped calls and when i do get connected the quality isn't great. So personally i'd say stay well clear. However i know many people out there do not have a problem with Three, but also know more than do!

3 are ok as long as nothing goes wrong. Their customer service is terrible. I am now with o2 although it costs me a bit more but they are really helpful and actually understand what I try to explain to them.

I would not go back to 3, they have caused me serious hassle with their lies (gave me an n95 8gb at upgrade time and told me I would get 600 mins and 300 texts for £20, although the tarrif they actually put me on was 300 min or texts for £27) When I tried to cancel it they just kept telling me what a great deal I was getting and couldn't understand that I wasn't happy because I was lied to. It took several phonecalls and letters to otello and trading standards to sort it out.

Have been with three for 18 months now and having no probs with the network coverage, customer service when you have a problem arent great as its an Indian call centre, saying that I think other comapnies have the same problem. My only real complaint is that you cant switch off the planet three key meaning that if the kids use my phone they can access the download and chargeable content and I get charged for it.

Me and OH been with 3 for 4-5 years no probs, The call quality is amazing with no "hiss" in background that you get with some networks.
Had some issues last month with the broadband in my area due to network upgrades and got a letter a few days back telling me they have credited my account with two months line rental as an apology for inconvenience! fantastic as i didn't ask for this they done this off their own accord for 3 customers in my area.

Coverage not as good as O2 or Vodafone. Customer Service is truly abysmal - about the standard of the nationalised utilities in 1970s/80s if anyone can remember that far back. Basically, they have no interest in putting things right - just taking your money. :x

no problem here - just renewed another 12 months - first one was 18 months

been with them 2 years, no problems apart from the odd bad connection, but moving around fixes that within a few seconds.

Customer service is rubbish, being having problems for 2 months. Keep getting "connection error" message. Cant make or receive calls when this happens even though I have full signal. It was great for the first 10 months but when you have a problem watch out.

Poor signals indoors, specially ground floor..otherwise ok

Thank you for all of the comments.

It's a difficult choice as from your comments it seems very 50/50 regarding the service etc.

I just don't want to move to3 and regret it, just for the sake of a new handset etc.

I can't comment on the network quality re: mobiles but I can tell you their customer service is absolutely dire. My gf was with them and her contract was ending around the time I met her. Had to **** around with them for weeks as they overcharged her or some nonsense, their customer service team didn't want to know.

I recently signed up with them for mobile bb and coverage has been very good but you already know this.

By many accounts they are a prime example of a "good as long as everything's working" company.

I found the Signal good all round myself and i go various places in Uk my only problem was the foreign call centres if you needed to speak to them it was a struggle to get anything sorted so for actual network no problems i was very happy just the customer service was useless.

I have since moved onto T-mobile but my wife is still with them and had a call to renew her contract from someone in the Uk  yet when i left i had the foreign call centre so hopefully they'll be getting more Uk people to do the phones id go back to them then i think :)

ive been having problems with signal since i got onto three in march.
Sometimes it says it has signal but cant make calls, i have to reset the phone.
Sometimes people cant call me, even though it says i have signal. Sometimes texts dont come for days.
#25
I have found them to be good so far. I think they use o2's signal so had no problems with coverage. The only problem I have had is my phone plays up now and then (SE K850i), not 3's fault, but they where very helpful in getting it repeard.

If you still interested. PM me and you could get upto £45 credit on your bill through the refer a friend program.

I have the exact same problem with 3 - my signal is very hit and miss especially at home and I have to stand in the corner of my bedroom to make a call
#27
I have 4 contracts with them - 3 phones and the mobile broadband dongle. Nps at all in the years I've been with them. Just a handset issue with the k850i when it first came out which they resolved by replacing the handset. Only problems I've had with signal are when I visit my parents in NI - otherwise, all good, incl. CS.

A typical example of why people should take everything they read on public forums with a big pinch of salt.

It's a bit pathetic when people throw around accusations like this without any evidence. At least back up your words if you are going to make such strong claims

A simple pray tell would have sufficed don't you think?
I will say that I got the Indian fellow who claimed to be from Three - then decided he wasn't when questioned - to call out my entire credit card number. I hung up and cancelled my card.
I hope this short answer is to your approval Your Lordship.

same as above, coverage is patchy, dont go by the advice given by them or the checker that i have seen on websites which check signal strength in your area as it does not matter diddly squat, as i found out to my horror to be honest my advice...........

STAY AWAY FROM THREE YOU WILL REGRET IT!

I know - I just can't stand people throwing serious accusations around based on nothing more than guesswork :)
