Three Mobile admitted that hackers have successfully accessed its customer upgrade database after using an employee login.
Sources familiar with the incident told the Telegraph that the private information of two thirds of the company's nine million customers could be at risk.

The company confirmed the breach on Thursday evening but declined to say whether customers' data was stolen or how many have been affected.Three said that the data accessed included names, phone numbers, addresses and dates of birth, but added that it did not include financial information.

It comes after Talk Talk, the phone and broadband company, admitted in October last year that the private details of 157,000 customers had been hacked.

The nickname given was always fool

lol on the Mr T. in fairness to 3, people have been arrested and there was a bit of an inside job. seems like a scam that could have and possibly does happen at the networks.

FROM THREE FACEBOOK PAGE:
We’re aware of an attempted fraud issue regarding upgrade devices and are working with police and relevant authorities on the matter. The objective was to steal high-end smartphones from Three, but we’ve already put measures in place to stop the fraudulent activity. We’d like to reassure customers that their financial details are not at risk. We are investigating how many customers are affected and will be contacting them as soon as possible. We’ll update with further information once we have this.

Look

3 didnt hire enough dodgy people for the right money.

They just hired some IT guys from the Westside & chucked them a 10th of the amount for real security.

In the old days we were happy to give out our name, address and phone number to all, in the shape of a phone book that got sent to everybody in your town...

Do you think your password is held in the upgrade system...? Course not.

This is a employee level data breach, not admin level.

Aren't I the lucky one.

Following reports in today's press, we're sorry to advise you are one of a number of impacted customers. For further info, click Three.co.uk/fraud/info

I've been with three for years without any problems but have had nothing but issues since I upgraded in October. Be great to be able to get out of the contract due to this security breach. Can anyone see that happening? As I think it's only around 130,000 affected.

Totally unrelated unless you had the same password at 3 as your email

It's nothing to do with passwords, so your email being hacked is more likely phished out of you some other way.

information from 133,827 customer accounts was obtained but no bank details, passwords, PIN numbers, payment information or credit/debit card information are stored on the upgrade system in question.

Why don't three tell us what information is compromised so we know where to be vigilant.
