Three PAYG - £15.00 a month Unlimited Data, texts and 300 mins - Being Discontinued to new users from end of January.

This isn't as such a new deal, but just to make people aware, the Three £15 pay as you go plan, that offers unlimited data, texts and 300 minutes of calls is being discontinued to new users from the end of this month...

I was in the Three store today enquiring about SIM only plans, as the assistant recommended to me the above PAYG plan was better for me as didn't need tethering. He was a very decent guy and said that he wasn't meant to tell me above info. But Three were "updating" their PAYG plans, and probably meant less data and would be more expensive as data is where the networks make their money from now.

He had no details of the new plans, but he was confident if I took out the existing £15 deal this month, they would continue to offer it to existing users of the plan going forward and just be new customers forced to take out the new plan from end of January. He made no assurances of this, but he said this was how existing "legacy" tariffs worked at Three on PAYG, bit if I let the old plan lapse, I would almost certainly have no choice and just be posted the new plans.

Shocking!

The £15 Add On plan for PAYG You posted does not include tethering, which is important for me. Thanks for the heads up anyway!

I downgraded last month at the end of my phone contract to SIMO 12 Months Unlim Data with 4GB Tethering + Unlim Texts + 200 MINS for £15/month

I hope they don't remove these too! I have my second contract ending in April this year.

This was rumoured before but never happened (cut from unlimited to 3gb). But it does make some sense as at the moment the PAYG is cheaper than contract. I use a 3-2-1 sim in a work phone but I only use the bundle when I'm away from home. I'll be fine with 3gb but any less and I'll have to have a rethink.

Being with Three and having heard by Three themselves and some reading they are getting rid of the One Plan (unlimited Data tethering) from Monday 5th January 2015, probably due to heavy users abusing the system with their (4G) 100GB - 300GB monthly downloads (I guess their business model couldn't sustain this indefinitely) to a tarriff where you'll get only 4GB of tethered traffic, supposedly texts were sent out stating this, although not received any myself, however this won't affect me as I'm fine with even 2GB per month.

So in effect from Monday, all and every person on this tarriff will be downgraded to this tarrif.

I few disgruntled customers will be very upset.

pffff, 856GB my last monthly total, and that's with supposedly no tethering allowed. Love 3.

3 did offer unlimited data for £12.90 a month but its not advertised. I had to push the telephone sales guy really hard to get this but he did admit its available to all. not available in any three shop only over the phone direct to three. been on this for a while now and its good.

Likely because the contract subsidies silly overpriced phones.

I cannot immediately find this PAYG tariff. I can only find the PAYG £15 add-on that includes the stated allowances for max 30 days, and if the inclusive 300mins are exhausted within that time and more minutes are required, then an additional top-up would be required.
There appears to be no mention of that add-on being removed / replaced on the product purchase page at http://store.three.co.uk/view/searchSimOnly?tariff=112, and what happens to those that buy the same package that has no stated "use before" date such as at http://www.amazon.co.uk/Three-Adapters-Preloaded-minutes-Unlimited/dp/B00ABJ0WA8 ? The salespeak all seems rather vague and uninformative.

I don't understand how they will continue to offer this to 'existing users' considering you have to purchase this deal every month, you're not automatically on this tariff.

My contracts up on the 26th and I'm calling them later. Currently on 600 mins, 1GB data at £9.90. Ideally I'm after unlimited minutes and about 2GB of data :)

Anyone got any recent haggling experience with Three? I don't really want to end up doubling my bill so I'm after some tips...

They used to offer great deals when you called to haggle. Nothing now and they are making people change from all there old packages to the new ones.

I have two (one plan) simo contracts each with unlimited data, unlimited tethering, 5000 texts, 2000 min to others and 5000 to other 3. The term of first contract ended last August so I let it run as monthly contract with the same benefits...do you think they will change it?

By all accounts they will. They're working their way through people's who's contract has terminated and moving them off. I would imagine they're starting with the high data users they've flagged then working down the list. So you've had some grace and may get a bit more. But it will happen.

I'm the same as you, old one plan, expired in December. Just waiting for their call / text.

This will not apply to current contracts where there are no changes. It will apply to new sign ups or current contracts on 3 where people are making changes.

I too am on the one plan with unlimited tethering. I have not been told I am being changed to a new tariff yet. Still in minimum contract till March.
#19
Ah my contract is until July. I can see why they are doing it as I was shocked how good the tethering speed was compared to Virgin supposed 30mb fast broadband! If I hadn't signed for a sky package, I wouldn't have bothered buying broadband

im on one plan and did get a text and letter as my contract is up in jan and being put on a rolling contract of 4gig tethering 200 mins talk time 5000 texts and unlimited data, the letter says basically if im not happy with this to call if i dont then this is what i will automatically go onto, i will ring as not paying £20 a month as was only paying £15 on one plan.

That is shame as I like the deal and never abused it. I rarely tether and if I do it will be less than 1GB per month and not every month. Minute wise I rarely use more than 500 minutes of my 2000 allowance. I know that I can move to a lower tariff to suit my use but I like the flexibility and not having to worry about exceeding my allownace

What is the Three network like. I am with o2 now and indoors I am lucky if I get one bar of signal, calls are constantly failing and when people call me it goes to voice mail because I have no signal. I've just been checking what phone mast are in my area and two Three network mast are the closest to me. Anyone in the Liverpool on Three let me know what it is like please. Sorry about going on in this thread.
#23
This plan has nothing to do with the One Plan, that everyone keeps mentioning and tethering has never been available on it.
(Whether people have have found away around this is another thing!)

I know this plan is popular with a lot of people who like to go abroad and have the unlimited internet in the countries that three allow you to use the plan for at no extra cost...

I'm in the L9 area and my signal is pretty much full strength all the time at my home address but in work which is about a 10 minute drive the signal fluctuates when i work in a smaller building in work as my signal goes down to 1 or 2 bars but when going back to the main building in work it pretty much goes back to full strength.

I am on my second contract with 3 basically because they wanted more money for me to upgrade on a new contract as they wanted £100 for my new handset being an existing customer but new customers got it for free so i signed up to a new contract.

My current contract runs out in May and id have to say ive had signal issues on about 4 occasions in that time where by i haven't had a signal on my phone but when phoning three they said it was down to mast upgrades and at one point it carried on for a few days. These issues only affected me at my work address.

I used to be with o2 about 4 years back at work id be lucky to get 1 bar on signal so that was my reasoning for leaving 02 and I'd happily stay with 3 as overall ive had a full signal over the course of the contract and i like the unlimited data package as well

People might correct me here, but as far as I am aware EE and Three have an agreement in place to share their phone masts and signal strength for 3G so coverage is almost identical on both networks.

Three's 3G internet speeds I find are almost always faster than EE and rarely get below 12 MB.

I've had no contact from them yet and I probably use around 10gb each month; am I bet to just keep quiet whilst looking for other deals?

Thanks for the reply NFS. Ive been with o2 10+ years and its only the last 4years its been bad but stayed with them out of loyalty. Every time I online chat with them they tell me how great the network is in my area even though I have no signal on my phone at the time. I think the time has come to move on now. I've ordered a sim from Three to test the signal in my area hopefully it will be better than o2 and no more failed calls/texts and people calling me and going to voice mail. Thanks

I meant sim only contract.

Can't beleve its changed into another "one plan" thread.

It depends on where you *are* - my 3 signal in my house is zero. But out and about, its good enough that I am happy. YMMV. You cannot ask others what it is like. The difference of a few hundred feet can make a big difference.

Forgot to mention in the post earlier.

Wasn't the government trying to push a ruling through that they wanted network providers to share masts so customers could connect to another network for coverage at no extra cost?

Yes, it has been rejected, and the government have accepted this.

Im out of contract for some time on an old 5gb mobile broadband for £10, sim now in a sim free mifi unit. Waiting to see when they will add more countries to Feel At Home but with ee stores regularly offering 10gb and a free tablet im ready to jump.

Any ideas from anyone of whether they will increase feel at home, particularly adding Spain to it?

Im out of contract with Vodafone for mobile already and wont resign due to coverage but been waiting on the above before deciding whether to go with 3 or ee for a sim only contract for iphone 6, the contract on this post would have been ideal so keen to find out if / when Spain will be added before this contract becomes unavailable

No way of telling if and when Spain will be added to Feel At Home. Bear in mind though, that data cannot be used for tethering while abroad; only in a phone, and that you can use a maximum of 35GB a month while you're using a sim with unlimited data.

Gotta admit though, funny that the businesses are sticking two fingers at the Government & telling them to feck off & keep their brown noses off their business practices. Talk about the Government protecting the interests of the Pubiic. No backbone & spineless, the Government. Load of ****.

End of day, it's the Consumers that pay & suffer. :(

Spain to be added 01 April 2015, unless of course 3 is playing the April Fool card.

There's no such thing now as unl tethering 4gb limit which doesn't bother me as I'm not a serial tetherer anyway, but they didn't offer me anything exciting just the same as new customer offers so I'm looking at an ee sim only deal £15 10gb data or Vodafone 20gb data £16 a month

Just rang three again and was told I can stay on my current £11 deal on a rolling contract forever and a day so I can't seem to find a better deal so I will stick where I am I think
