THREE PHONE PROVIDER RIPPING ME OFF - PL HELP!

Hi,

Im going to try and make this long story as short as possible! .....

Three phone company phoned me up Nov 08 and asked me if i wanted to upgrade my phone with a cheaper deal , so i did.

Then since Dec 08 double payments started getting taken out my bank. I didnt realize this till March 09 and cancelled my direct debits.

I spoke to Three and they said i needed to cancel my direct debit for old phone as i had a new contract. I said they should have done that as standard, and that i wasnt told to cancel the old.

They said i would have been told. I said its common sense that if i was told i would cancel. No-one would pay twice for phone they dont use anymore.

I told them to go back to conversation, as they said they are all recorded. They said the Convo has now been deleted.

They owe me 40.41, and wont reimburse me. They only offered me 10 pound credit as good will gesture, but i refused.

The bill is due on my current phone. I said i wanted the 40.41 knocked off future bills, then i will happily set up direct debit again. They said no, and cut my phone off today.

I have 2 kids, and need my phone so i was forced to pay. I have wrote to them and spoke to supervisors, and always get the same no answer.

I beleive the negligence is on their part, and they have been fraudulant, but im not sure what else i can do.

Can anyway advise me, or been in a similar situation and resolved it?

Thanks Guys
Tina

I hate 3 with a passion! I was forever being charged random amounts for internet when I wasn't even using the sim in a handset. When I asked what sites or data I had used, they said they couldn't tell me due to data protection act. I snapped the card and still got extra charges and they wouldn't bend. I wish you all the luck in the world as you are gonna need it!

If I'm reading this correctly, it's not a case of you not stopping the old DD, but them starting a new DD without your authorisation or permission. This is against the law, and your bank should be able to help you out. I'd phone again. Remember to take names of who you speak to, and don't end the call without getting a resolution. Low-level staff are limited in what they can do, so you might need to demand a manager or supervisor.

Ultimately though, you shuld be okay. I too had a billingproblem with 3 last year, but it was resolved in a single phonecall. You've just got to have the right attitude, know your stuff, and be persistant. They're not bad people, just slightly dumb people constrained by a script and their abilities.

I hope so DX. they took bank details over phone for a refundable credit search for the upgrade, but had no idea i was setting up a double direct debit!

I know what you mean about script. they have gone quiet on me lots of times then seemed to speak like robots lol.

I demanded a supervisor and they said they would tell me the same thing. but i said i want to speak anyway, so im awaiting a call back from them now!

It is strange about the having to cancel the old contract as an upgrade usually gives you the same number which is tied to the contract. So you didn't have an upgrade at all, someone conned you into getting a 2nd line. Was it Phones4u? I have been there close to upgrade time but they have made it clear that I am not keeping the number and will have to phone to cancel the contract.

yeah looks like they did con me with the sale. i originally purchased the one from three online website direct, and they phoned me for the upgrade!

I have been in touch with citizens advice now in the hope they may be able to help me out :(
