TIPS FOR GETTING UP EARLIER IN A MORNING??!!

Hi All - i know full well theres going to be alot of sarcastic/funny comments, but....

Ive been telling myself for 2 weeks "set the alarm clock for 6.30am and do a nice 2 mile run to liven me up in a morning".... every morning comes round i hit the snooze button and rush to work getting there on the stroke of 9am.
Any tips for ensuring when the alarm goes off that i get up and stay up ??? !!!!

Move the alarm clock away so that you can't hit snooze and have to actually get out of bed.

So you are still getting the run?

I have the alarm out of reach hence I have to walk across the room to switch the buzzer off by which time I am awake, sort of.

Train a lion to live in your cupboard, don't feed it on a night and have a time release that let's the lion out at 6:30am. Problem solved

i used to go to bed at 12 and get up at 7.
At first i used to set my alarm for 5:30 and just sit up in bed and watch TV, until i got used to waking up that early, i had to force my self to get up, as i was getting up earlier I started going to bed earlier.
Now i get up at 5:30 and go to the gym at 6:30 then get to work for 7:45.

Go out every night and pull a munter, back to hers each time, then you'll find yourself sneaking out early every morning so you don't have to go through the humiliation of facing her without beer goggles.... :|

Nope - the desire is there i just cant get outa bed, then by the time i wake up at 8am - its too late so i dash off to work :(

Speak to your boss. See if you can go into work late & finish late. Problem solved.

drink a big glass of water right before you go to bed. When the alarm goes off you'll be so desperate for a wee you'll have to get up

- Make sure you are going to bed earlier (work into a routine)
- As above - drink a big glass of water or even spray yourself with some when you wake up :)
- Put your alarm clock across the room so that you have to get out of bed
- Keep the window open at night to allow in more air

I need to be up for 6:30 and i stagger alarms on my phone so it goes off from 6:00 every 5 or 10 mins. By the time 6:30 comes i get up quite easily.

I try to be in bed at around 11 and watch some tv until i fall asleep at about 12.

1 night a week i'll have an early night and sleep at about 9:30.

Took me 3 weeks to get into this routine.

Buy one of those flying alarm clocks from play.com, when alarm
goes off it flies round the room, good exercise for u too....

Set one before, then wake up on the 2nd one.

lately i go to sleep at about 3
and even though im awake for like 9, the rest of my body doesnt want to get out of bed
last two weeks ive been gettin out of bed at about 6pm
mostly on and off sleep after 9am

i cant get a simple straight refreshing sleep

i might go see the doc to find out why i cant wake yup earlier

Do what the rest of the working do, set your alarm and get up when it goes off.

my mobile has 8 alarm settings, I set them at 5 minute intervals along with the clock radio & an alarm clock. Also I bump my head on the pillow 6 times for 6am and leave the curtains slightly open so I can see daylight. As the clocks go forward on sunday it's going to be relearn time.

How about going to bed earlier? Say at the mo you go to bed at 12 and you feel able to wake at 8, well just go to bed a 1 1/2 earlier so you can wake 1 1/2 earlier?

im so bad at getting up in the morning, have tried going to bed from 10 o'clock and as late as 1 or 2am. Tried setting alarm for 5 - 10 mins before I need to get up, all the way through to setting up alarm 1 hour before I need to get up and just snoozing. I struggle so badly :( so I have no answer for you OP so my little bit up there ^^ was pretty pointless lol

Using the 24 hour clock then, if you have a sleep in Sunday, 12 bumps on the pillow puts you out for the night?

i set my alarm for 5.50 have staggered snoozes (is that an actual term? :) and then get up between 6.30-6.45

i go to the gym three or four mornings a week but even when i dont go i still get up this early as otherwise i am out of the routine again

the tip for waking up early and feeling good is, wake up when you are in a light sleep. there are iphone and android apps which monitor the moevement in your bed and wake you up when you are in a light sleep, you can also buy alarm clocks which do the same thing.

get a furry alarm clock. Mine is too good to use the flap so demands to be let out at six am because the birds outside have been goading him..

This is so me! I have real difficulty in getting up, my OH manages to get up naturally around 5-6am and is so chirpy it should be illegal lol. The only solution I have found is torture, I told him to rip the duvet off the bed completely when my alarm goes off and failing that if I'm still asleep to spray my face with some cold water which is in one of those small spray bottles. It's the only thing that works for me, I just always seem to be most comfortable/get the best sleep when it's time to wake up :(

Right guys here goes - the responses have been great so thanks for that.
Just drinking a large glass of water now then off to bed..........alarm is set for 6.15am - i really want to get up and do the run........................lets see if i can do it !!!

I tried drinking a glass of water before bed, it just woke me up in the middle of the night to pee and then when I went back to bed I ended up waking up even later than usual lol X)

I was once told if you lick your finger and draw the number of what time you want to get up on your forehead then that's the time you'll wake! Not tried it as didn't fancy gobbing on my own head. Just an option x
