Tired all the time

ryouga Avatar
8y, 5m agoPosted 8 years, 5 months ago
Anything to keep me awake or could there be something wrong with me as have put on 4 stone in 2 months and had a lot of stomach cramps and I just assumed everything was down to bad sleeping pattern but in last 3 weeks alone have been sleeping like 10-14 hours a day and feeling exhausted. and sick.

I did start to force myself to go to bed like midnight to 1am each day and have 8-10 hours sleep but feel really tired all day long.

I dont take any caffeine so wondered if that would help.

But the huge increase in weight doubled with the fact im sleeping huge hours worries me.

My wrist and shoulder is painful a lot too where I broke it as a teenager and my joints always ache.

Any idea whats wrong?

4 stone in 2 months ? are you sure ? thats nearly a half a stone a week
I think you should see your Dr. ASAP ....... it will put your mind at rest
#2
Yeah, at first I assumed it was just my diet as was eating junk food late at night but stopped and ate right but the weight continued to gain, then took sleeping tablets for a month that had a rep of weight gain.

#4

Eat on time, eat onion in lunch, have as much veggies as you can and try to adopt an exercise plan
#6
very easy to put weight on, not so easy to lose it, you diet of fast food and late night eating has messed up your metabolism and will take awhile to get back and can only be done with sensible eating especially before bed, but to be on the safe side I would see a doctor - good luck
#7
it could be your diet, do u also drink alot of fizzy drinks? are u just generally a lazy person lol
i read sumwhere if u sleep more than 10 hours a day for a period of two weeks u may have a sleep problem as adults really only need 6-8 hours
#8
Yeah love exercise but far too exhausted to do much at minute.

Used to spend an hour or two in gym a day but stopped as I started feeling lethargic.

The only "good" thing about waking up early now is I dont feel hungry late at night, instead I want to go to bed.

I think its partly down to stress and depression as its been gradually getting worse over the last 4 years since the death in family but doc wont prescribe AD's without councelling first but have been waiting 3 months and no appointment yet!

As my weight gets bigger Im feeling more tired and tired probably a circle as im tired as im big but im big as im tried
#9
are you irratable? is your urine frothy?
#10
Lol dont think it is, apart from if I drink alcohol which I have only done once in over 3 months due to tiredness.

If I do go for a number 2 its usually sloppy and such.

You must go to your doctor asap - it sounds as though your thyroid has packed up.

Hi
Sorry to hear all that...It sounds as if you are depressed. The weather will not be helping either,so probably have a touch of SAD as well. Ok,I am not a doctor but my advice would be -
* Drink more water. Yes we hear it all the time but it does help.
* Try to get some exercise a day. Force yourself if you have to. Outside preferred but even 20 minutes on eliptical trainer, running machine, fitness video will help.
* Eat more fruit and veg. the more RAW the better. If cooking, try to eat veg raw or slightly steamed.
* Buy a SAD lamp. It will help to lift the spirits.
* Sounds as if you have slowed down your metabolism. You will need to start eating smaller meals more often. Have breakfast. Again,if you don't eat it,force yourself, you will get in to it. Best bet,Porridge! But that's just cause I'm Scottish
* Don't start taking coffee, tea, other caffeine drinks,as they will give you a slight lift, but you will only feel worse when you come down again. Occasional cups of above is ok,but if you don't take now, don't start.
* Buy a juicer. You will get nothing better for you then freshly juiced produce, not shop bought, but shop bought is better than soft drinks, but only just! My favorite is freshly juiced carrots.
* Ok,supplements. A multi vit. cod liver oil, possibly vit c, vit B complex, all good. As an extra ginseng, might help too.
* Spirulina also good. Add a spoonful a day to that carrot juice that you are going to be having everyday now :whistling:
* The pains is the weather and sounds like arthritis. Also nods to bad circulation. You really need to start walking or getting out on that old bike that you've got...
* Hardcore? Pick a day and drink only water and eat grapes. It will flush and clean out your system and get you ready for the new health you!

Go for it. You are the creator of your own destiny. You have the power of God (atheists, insert whatever word you use here*) inside you. There is nothing that can't be done without him. You can you will you can

List everything you eat on an average day and ill tell you if its because your eating too much or not.
#14
I suggest you go to the Doc hun x
#15
Well I cant as I eat different things each day and dont stick to anything.

I assumed it was just time I eat as up till 2 years ago my weight was ok, apart from varying between 12 and 14 stone each month but eating a lot of take aways never really ate after 9 or 10pm

Then in last 2 years started eating around midnight-2am often hence me thinkings its that.

I do admit to eating a subway last night, first one in a month and ate a small quiche for lunch that was all I ate all day, had a pint of fosters and a large coke.

Day before it was a prawn and salmon pasta salad for lunch and a packet of crisps for supper.

Day before was at a hotel and had no way to cook so got sausage and chips all I ate all day.

Day before it was a quiche that was all I ate.

Well I do pig out but in the way that sometimes I get starving and eat a lot in a short period of time late at night i.e wll suddenly crave food about 1am then eat say a quiche then, drink loads of pop, maybe a few biscuts.

I do have a problem with sugary things like sweets and chocolate, as soon as I eat them I feel like I want to be sick, I do know my brother has low blood sugar and is told to eat a lot of sugar to balance it and my dad has a problem eating sugary things.

If you want to use a natural anti-depressant until your doctor prescribes, you could use St Johns Wort available at Holland & Barratt, plus if you start drinking herbal lemon & ginger tea that will help with digestion and your metabolism.

Go back to docs asap, they have emergency referral lists, you just have to not take no for an answer.

I have most of that cept im a guy lol but instead of feeling cold I feel sweaty all the time, well I feel cold but wear anything buy a t shirt and I just drip with sweat

had a few throat infections since christmas where I got tonsilitis then had a really bad throat and was on antibiotics, now often I feel bubbles in my throat when I breath or often when I talk or breathe a whistling sound comes out and my thorats coarse.

And im 26 (last week) but my face looks tired and baggy.

Also when I have been running or when really tired my neck next to adams apple seems to throb and pulse.

I think you'll find the weight gain is the reason you are tired all the time. Your body metabolism is all over the place, and your body is screaming out for help. That sort of weight gain takes its toll on the heart and muscles as they try to cope with the extra weight. I would suggest a trip to the gym and start an exercise regime.
#24
Same as me, i dont get cold i get the sweats!!

I can be sat in the house, sweating terrible not doing anything!! ( Ive put this down to weather, even hormones!) lol anything to label what is wrong with me!!!

SO i wonder if sweating, and i mean sweating is a sign?? my neck, body is physically dripping.... its like im abroad!! quite embarassing really...

MY OH is convinced its my Aneamia.... cos i dnt take tabs regular but idont, its more than that

Cant afford it lol, not until I sell my things lol.

I used my overdraft up buying a tv and a few pc parts and tried selling my old tv and a pc I built but either no interest or offered far less than I want and need,

This is also why im not working right now as im too tired to think straight in morning though I really really want to work.

Havent read the other replies, but to me sounds like u got to get ur thyroid checked. Lack of thyroxine meand putting on weight and tiredness are common symptoms

Have to echo this repeated advice to you to get a medical check up. I'd guess first a blood test to check all your levels and see how your doc interpretes them. Several possible suggestions, also consider internal tumours but you could likely rule that out if you are talking all over weight gain and not some thing growing in one area like stomach.

If there is no underlying medical cause you must consider your lifestyle. I wouldn't cast an opinion but you have asked people to help. I'd just ask you to consider that going to bed in the early hours, eating late and digestion keeping you awake can't be good. The food you eat doesn't appear healthy or cheap. If your finances are stretched too consider what is truly important, new tv and computer parts? Would be great to see you get back on track. Make a plan to tackle each thing that bothers you to break the depression. Plan your money, force yourself to take a walk and fresh air whatever, plan some healthy food and drinks without fizz and chemicals, make yourself ready for a job not feeling unemployable. I hope this is not a lecture but elimate the rubbish factors from your life and get a professional opinion on your health so you aren't guessing and speculating. You are the only one who will help yourself right now but I'm sure everyone here wishes you well.

Ryouga, i advise you to either change your doctor or put pressure on your doctor to get you on the anti-d's and organise the counselling for you.

When, i went through depression last year my doctor put me on anti-d's right away and i had counselling whilst i was taking them.

Your depression must be dealt with right away before it get's worse.

If you ever want anymore advise, just pm me

I think all the junk you eat is making you lethargic.

Try to eat healthier instead of a quiche etc... have a couple of pieces of fruit or a yoghurt.

Also, try and do some exercise, it is a good energy booster and will help the depression too.

You must really get hold of your depression, it is holding you back from a lot of things.

I do a lot of walking, it's free and good for you.

They also do a lot of Health Walks near me, log on to your local council and NHS sites and see if they do any.

They will get you out of the house, dwelling on the past etc...

Yes, as all the good advice ^^^^^ says - go to the doctor's. It sounds just like a thyroid problem, which is very common, but the symptoms are insidious so you may have had an underactive thyroid for a long time.
The sooner you get a diagnosis the sooner you can start recovering. I was depressed when my thyroid packed in - it's a very common symptom.

Sorry, you stay up eating until 2am and then wonder why you're tired and putting on weight? :?
#34
Buy some speed, the weight will drop off and you'll have plenty of energy for everything.... apart from sex. It tends to have an effect on performance..... well, not performance but the outcome LOL

yeah i cant read

i read the title and thought it said "time team"
and then i seen sleep in the first line of OP and thought you wanted to know if something like that was on tv so it could bore you to sleep

Lol I dont stay up eating, its different at different times, I often starve all day then eat at midnight, I dont go to bed till late as though im tired my brain doesnt shut down and is hyper.

Though the last few nights since Tuesday I have been going to bed early and waking up early and I feel tired all day and at night just fall asleep within a few minutes or quicker and my appetite is earlier too i.e ate arpimd 8pm tonight and even then was because I got back from town around that time.

I love yogurts and barely touch alcohol and hardly ever eat sweets and love fruit and veg(apart from oranges as they are too sour and full of pips)

My doctors are nice(well one of them is) in fact they have been really good as she works with the uni and student nurse, its just all the docs in my surgery are reluctant to prescribe anything, when I said before about the sore pain in my arms was just told to take ibruprofen.
Dont eat a huge amount of junk as such just dont eat everything that is the best health wise.
#37
Anyway went to bed just after 1am last night(as didnt want to go to bed before 12.30 as knew id wake up early in morning feeling rough)

Managed to sleep till 1pm though woke up a lot during night and took a few minutes to get back to sleep.

Feeling a bit better, still tired but nowhere near as bad.

Speed is a ain severe problems with getting anerection on that stuff, avoid like the plague if you want to get any sex at all, on the other hand, it does have this strange effect of burning a million (not a fact) callories off an hour and makes your brain completely forget about food!!!!
I doubt your Doctor will prescribe it to you though, so you may have to visit one of the street chemists on your nearest dodgy council estate :p

Mike..
[mod]#39
Starving yourself all day and then gorging yourself will make you put weight on because you are taking it all in one hit.

You're meant to eat throughout the day to keep your energy levels up and burn it off as you do things.

Do you exercise.........4 stone in 2 months is a hell of a lot and extremely unhealthy for your organs to have such sudden extra stress.
#40
Have you suffered with Glandular Fever or some other virus in the last 12 months? If so, it may be CFS/M.E. Are you having muscle and joint pains? Obviously best to see your doctor to get checked out though.

M.E. info. here
Hope you feel better soon.
