Tired of negativity

It seems every listing I look at people are voting cold and perfectly good deals just because they can get it cheaper off eBay, it doesn't do this and that, it isn't compatible with their computer.
It stops people listing deals. If it's a rubbish deal, then fine, but you have to compare like with like. eBay is not a reputable dealer - you take a risk that things will turn up, they can take weeks to come etc., and if you're colding something it should be because you can find the exact or very similar item cheaper somewhere else.
HUKD feels to me like a community of people who poor scorn at every opportunity at the moment.

it is only the few that do this if i vote cold i leave a reason why, i have never mentioned Fleabay due to the fact 90% of goods sold on there are cr4p.............perhaps again voting cold should only be allowed if you add a comment why.....??????? (one for the mods)

Welcome to HUKD.:)

Who cares if it is voted cold. If it is the cheapest, then that is all that should matter.

Heat & Rep are very much courted by some, but they are followers of a religion with a false prophet. :)

make transparent who voted cold!

Why would you do that?

Everyone has their own opinion. If someone else votes a deal cold it doesn't mean it isn't a HOT deal for me:roll: Ive seen some great deals that were freezing:oops:

If I ever vote cold I always state that I have and give the reason for it. Think it's only fair.

Do you do the same when you vote a deal hot?

I've seen more bad deals on here voted hot than I've seen good deals voted cold.

That's the same with every purchase online or mail order. How do you know youll receive the product? Youre not 100% guaranteed. How do you know the company wont change their mind and cancel your order? You don't.
Just deal with it, we all get cold deals, just because in your eyes a deal is hot to others it might not be.
Yesterday for example I left heat on a deal for fathers day, I don't have a father so the deal isn't appropriate for me BUT I still left heat as it IS good deal in my opinion.
hmm. :whistling:

so, in theory if 50 people vote it as a good deal and 5 vote it as a cold deal what would you think it is?...a bad deal because 5 people think it's bad?...

I don't generally give a reason if voting hot, but I do say "voted hot or added heat".

Sometimes, especially in the cinema tickets I vote hot and say I have even though deal not in my area as I appreciate it is a good deal for those able to attend.

I don't think you would know as all you see is the "temperature", i.e + or - however many degrees. There is, I believe, some problem with this in that some people's hot (or cold) vote adds (or deducts) a lot more degrees than others. This was explained a while back. So, using your example 50 vote hot but their votes only add 25 degrees and 5 vote cold but their votes deduct 50 degrees and the result is -25. Overall, a fairly stupid system so best ignored. :-D

then simple, don't use this website if you don't believe in it, use your own instinct.
duh. :?

Thanks for all your responses. I posted this last night after I'd received a very negative comment on one of my deal posts, and it's more about the negativity I see on here, rather than cold voting.
I agree with Saint and others that heat should not be held in such high regard. When my first deal post went cold I was upset, but I'm over that now and I post deals so that others will see them. What gets me down is when someone makes a comment poo-pooing a post (and I mean others posts too, not just mine), when it really isn't necessary.
My feeling is, if you can't add a constructive comment, then don't make a comment. If you think a deal is poor explain how it could be better, or just leave it alone. It particularly annoys me when this happens to newcomers to the site, and longstanding members make a negative comment. Don't they realise that puts people off the site?
I didn't start this post so that some action would be taken, it's more of a rant really and maybe to make people think that they can make a comment without being so negative, and shooting down a post because it doesn't meet their particular requirements.

I'm glad that you can see the other side backtothecaves. :)

No one likes a cold deal, but you take that risk whenever you post a deal. With it comes the negative comments that usually have nothing to do with the deal, but that's how it is.

I long ago decided any deals I post are for those that want something for the cheapest price available, if I am happy that i've done that, my work has done.
I have said it before, but I never vote on my own deals myself.
I am on the maximum voting power available, so could help myself out by doing so, but don't feel the need.

I would like to see the moderators removing a lot of off-topic posts, but they choose to leave them.
