Has anyone else been having problems with Tiscali broadband lately? They have been my ISP for the last month and since the weekend my broadband will only connection after 10pm at night and before 1…

Has anyone else been having problems with Tiscali broadband lately?

They have been my ISP for the last month and since the weekend my broadband will only connection after 10pm at night and before 10am in the morning.

I have tried ringing them on various numbers and while you get the options - nothing happens when you press the required number it just reads the options over and over before hanging up.

I have been told they are almost in administration but that's no excuse!

My boss has been having problems with them and has been told that a cable in london was cut.

They say it should be fixed by the weekend.

So you are getting no connection what so ever during the day then?

You could always cancel the Direct debit they will get intouch then I bet! lol

I was with Tiscali, tied in to a horrid contract. I was getting less than 512KBs during the day and if I was lucky 1MB in the evening after 10pm. Turned out it was down to how many people were using Tiscalis switch at the exchange (contention ratio) Got horribly fed up after hours on the phone, not getting through then getting through to god knows where in timbuktu to a guy who told me to check my computer was on!!!!

Finally got a hold of their head office address in the UK, wrote them a stinking letter, threatening all sorts, breach of contract, failure to supply services paid for etc. They sent me one back saying ok we will cancel your contract.

Went to BT (I know its one of the dearest) and never had a problem for 5 years.

Get out as quickly as possible, Tiscali are a waste of space!

apart from a glitch on one website last night never had a problem with bt,,,the glitch only lasted about 15mins,,,so happy to say well done bt,,,,i agree bt not the cheapest but been a very good service for the last 2+ years i've been with them,,,

I know they said there was a problem in Ilford but I am in the North West so not sure its that

As far as I know there is nothing during the day but I am at work - I had nothing all day Sunday and the same thing happens even when I do have a connection can't get on msn or you tube

I might try cancelling the DD and see what happens but will bear your experiences in mind :thumbsup:

Thanks V&T I will try running another scan tonight when I get home - did one on Sunday but it showed nothing

:thinking: last weeks WATCHDOG on bbc1 did a special report on it ..go to bbc iplayer to watch it ...the company is in financial trouble!

Yeah I heard that but I thought they were owned by Pipex anyway - will try and check it after 10pm tonight where I will also leave rep for the all the helpful replies, can't seem to do on the work pc

I heard about that but there are several companies waiting in the wings to take advantage of the situation and buy on the cheap, including Sky
If you check Saynoto0870, there number comes up alot with Pipex being assosiated with them, so would expect better customer service from Pipex.

I have no doubts that this is a money saving procedure at the moment, just trying to make cut backs to strengthen their financial position while they're in a losing battle to remain in existance but it shows they don't consider their customers in the slightest by throttling the service and offering zero customer support.

It's the other way around, Pipex is owned by Tiscali

Indeed, Tiscali ruined Pipex as well, they just brought it down their dismal level.

That's a shame, I heard good things about Pipex when it was heavily advertised but Tiscali seems like the worst of the bunch.

YAY!!! I came home from work and just tried it - its working for the first time in 5 days, lets see how long it lasts.

Im not sure how true this is but have heard a rumor that tiscali will be going bust later this year are not going to be informing customers.
Personallly I found the connection with tiscali good but changed to talk talk as they were offering a better deal.(Unfortunately connection is worse though)
O the other hand Tiscali's customer services is rubbish , I was misinformed when ringing hem on different occasions and am still having problems getting a refund after they charged me an extra month after cancelling my sewrvice. Hope you have better luck with them.
