Theres so many phones on the market right now.
I am not sure which one to choose.

Right now I use phone to make calls only, I dont text and dont use interntet.
However that may change in few months when I go to Uni.

I need a phone with clear, bright and large screen. But I dont want it to be a brick that will barely fit in my hand or pocket.
I want the battery to last long (I am tired of running my current phone on lowers settings, because the battery lasts 2 to 3 days)
I want it to have a good camera (my LG viewty takes superb pictures and videos, much better than samsung tocco of the same era - both phones have 5MP camera)
I think I will also need it to have a word document reader and also an editor so I can start word document on the mobile and finish it on PC (and other way round too  ), hence the need of large screen.

I choose some funky phones from a suggested website. Can someone who knows about phones check them for me and tell me which ones are good, better or no go's ?

I'll help you along a bit. If it is battery you are after, count the desire out. Battery only lasts around 24-48hrs even on idle.

Sony Erricson for battery life everytime.

I guess I will have to buy a car charger then

Have to agree, I had the Sony W810i and the battery could easily last 5+ days.

have a look here OP, I always look here before getting a new phone :)

How about Motorola Milestone, (N97 look a like)
think it would be perfect for text processing.

Whats so good and special about desire?

My friend has one, has to charge it basically everyday, and can't even recieve picture message although that's probably a setting. Really good phone, but huge and crap battery.

Looks very nice, good specs too. Your friend must be using it a lot then.

I have read few reviews and compared the phones.
I like:
Sony Ericsson Satio (looks like my old phone :( )
Sony Ericsson X10 (£26pm 24monhs contract :( )
HTC HD2 (looks cool, wonder what is the battery life)
HTC Legend (same as HD2, looks good but not sure about the batter life)
HTC Desire (best mobile?, why is the battery life so bad, is it not gonna be an update so it can last long on idle? )

All share the same functions, any idea which one of them is the best for the battery life?

They are all pretty much the same in terms of battery life, although the X10 is a bit better. I wouldn't buy any of them based on their battery life, as they don't differ greatly. Check it on GSM Arena.

Personally I wouldn't touch a Sony Ericsson, as I've had too many problems with them. They're plagued with software issues, but I'm not sure how much that has changed with the X10. The HD2 runs on Windows 6.5 which is slow, and is more of Business phone. For me that leaves the Legend and the Desire. The Desire is the more superior one in terms of specifications, however some people prefer the looks of the Legend. Personally I would go for the Desire, and reviews also praise the Desire greatly - the HTC Desire is ranked as the number one mobile phone by techradar.

Since all new smartphones have poor battery life I thought of few more factors to consider.

-lag free camera with micro mode ( I often have to take detailed pictures of small objects)
-free SAT NAV solution (not for everyday use, just in case I get lost :) )

Do you know if mentioned earlier phones have these features?
Can you name any other phones with these features?

SE non smartphone for best life :D mine lasts about 7+ days with general use, however it wouldn't be very friendly to your tastes since you need all the qualities of a smartphone
