TOM TOM CRASH - RED CROSS OF DEATH

Has anyone had this problem when u update the tom tom off tom tom home pc software the tom tom flashes with a red cross and it no longer works, i've researched it on google but no one has worked out how to fix it. i have handed mine in to pc world where i bought it for repair, i am so annoyed!!! first the xbox wit the red rings of death now the tom tom with the red cross of death.

i tried the reset it makes no diff

as with every device if you don't comply with the update instructions the device will spasm. even opening a different application can affect the update. will probably be repaired by installing original firmware

it doesnt allow u to install / or reset to original firmware, as soon as u connect to pc it does not open as a hard drive anymore to play with the files as it says the device is corrupt, so there is no option but to either return to store for repair or open it up yourself to fix but that will invalidate the warranty.

it'll probably go back to tt which'd take a while. try getting a refund and get a new one ;-)

just a thought, i have a tomtom but have only ever updated once but surely as it uses an sd card can you update via a card reader? please comment.

the card is peripheral (mainly used for music, vids etc) as the tt uses its flash memory to store the root file, kernel and the like. it's the tt itself that is naffed,as it's not communicating with the PC i doubt it'll recognise the card. :thumbsup:
