he was working on top gun 2, his last words were "so tom, tell me about scientology"

That doesn't really work as a joke.

he was working on hukd's the movie, his last word were "so filthandfury, tell me why life is worth living"
    any better? :|

Better, but you're just not that funny.

if i wanted to know if i was funny i wouldn't ask a troll such as yourself

I didn't say you weren't self-aware. You must know you're not funny. Just break down that joke you made earlier and you'll see that it simply doesn't work.

the problem is your not in a position to judge if someone is funny or not, you only have to look at your relatively low level of likes to see that long term you fail time and time again to say anything humourus

So because I don't have enough 'likes' on HUKD, I can't judge whether something is funny either objectively (as in how the joke is constructed) or even subjectively?

I think you're really overestimating the importance of 'likes', but it's good that you have something to aim for.

I feel bad for his family but honestly think he's a moron for putting his family through the aftermath of it all.

Lets find out why he did it before we start ripping him for being selfish.

He was a successful Hollywood director, what possible reason would be acceptable. Unless he suffered with severe depression or had a mental health problem there is no excuse. (imo) He did make some great films, Crimson Tide and Man on Fire being personal favourites. Such a waste.

Generally speaking, people don't tend to kill themselves for the fun of it.

Selfishness aside, if he was suffering I'm sure his loved ones would not want him to continue to feel that way. As big a blow as it must be to them, let's respect his memory and not debate whether his actions were "acceptable".

Someone else not understanding or reading my comment properly . I'm well aware that people don't off themselves for the fun of it nor did I say that. I did say that if depression or mental illness was a factor it would be easier to understand. Plenty of people 'suffer' with various things in life but I'm sure their family would want them walking around not jumping off bridges.

The point is I'm not prepared to 'respect' his memory without knowing if he deserves it. If anybody deserves sympathy it's the poor people who may have witnessed such an horrific act in broad daylight.

    Your original post is contradictory.

Neither you or I can relate to what this man was going through, and yet you're quite happy to judge.

I'm sure this thread started out with good intentions and yet it's turned into a series of petty arguments.

You could probably say the same about your parents, producing you. Get them to the quacks quick style.

This is shocking and tragic news. :( I always thought that he was a very underrated director (particularly compared to his brother, Ridley), and his films were almost without exception highly entertaining, exciting and fast-moving. Whenever I saw his films at the cinema, I actually used to look forward to his editing, particularly his famous action sequences! My deepest sympathies and thoughts are with his family at this very sad time. Tony Scott - you will be truly missed by millions.

Really shocked by this. Not the most gifted Director in the world and lived in the shadow of his brother but True Romance is an absolute classic, as is Revenge.

    2004 Man on Fire
    2001 Spy Game
    1998 Enemy of the State
    1996 The Fan
    1995 Crimson Tide
    1993 True Romance

No-one knows how some people may feel approaching old age, perhaps he preffered to control his own death , have it on his terms , he was a film director so was used to shaping the start, the middle and the 'end' .

Yes can't go anywhere without people jumping off bridges as they approach 70 especially film makers. I've got no idea what you're on about or even if you're being serious.
