Tories showing true colours again?

Going through the usual drivel on the Daily Mail site and came across the following article:

David Cameron plans to get Britain back to work by making it easier to sack staff in the first two years of their employment.

The Prime Minister's proposed 'employers’ charter' will allow companies to get rid of workers without the threat of being taken to an employment tribunal for unfair dismissal.

Under current legislation, an employee can bring an unfair dismissal claim against an employer after only a year, so the Coalition wants to double the leeway given to firms.

Don't worry.
Every proposal this government tries to adopt gets knocked back, as it invariably infringes the Human Rights bill!

Europe decides the rules in this country now, Cameron and co. are mere puppets!

Actually i agree with this, many companies are having to keep bad staff because there are so many laws and obstacles. Some people know this and take the mick , making it harder for others in the team, it's unfair.

This is about protecting businesses, not penalising employees.

If you don't know an employee isn't going to be trouble in the first 12 months, then what type of employer are you?

And for those the law currently protects?? Those that maybe just have a personality clash with a longer serving colleague for example?

Doesn't matter how it is being spun, the end result would still be bad for employees in general.

Just as employees abuse the rule so will employers if it's lessened.

It's perfectly easy to sack people already, in complete contrast to, say, France or Germany. You can give a final warning after one incident.

Our leader said in the Andrew Marr interview something along the lines of, I paraphrase, unions are pointless because strikes always fail.

He is reneging on all sorts of election manifesto promises, e.g. the fuel cost balance mechanism. He is a TORY - unreconstructed - and his smooth manner and constant rhetoric cannot hide his antipathy to the working people of this country.

No company has to keep bad staff. They should have procedures in place for dealing with them. It should be difficult to sack somebody.

Haha - survived!!

Whilst 'taking the air', I also recalled that huge numbers of workers are now employed by agencies and work as temps for businesses, so have hardly any 'rights' anyway. That made me even crosser. I must now go to the ultimate - a cup of tea.

must admit this guy is breaking more promises than anyone I can recall , and I'm not talking about little micky mouse ones either.
He wants to make a name for himself just like Blair and Thatcher - doesn't care how he does it, but my guess is I can see the the coalition breaking within 2 years but then whats the alternative - Labour pff
