Is that two 160GB drives combined?
Does this happen with all torrent clients that you've tried?
I/O is generally either a hardware error, or too much date been put on the hard drive too quickly.

Basically its saying there was a problem writing to the disk
HDD FAILURE IMPENDING? well maybe but would of thought windows itself would have given you that message if so.
It's probably a write stopped by something accessing the disk at same time or accessing the file at same time such as your virus checker.
Depends on how old the setup is personally i swap out my raid disks every 2 yrs just to minimise risk.
Maybe it's time to swap out that raid array while you can still image it across lol
