You nailed it on the head - catch is (1) I'm off sick and on a course of strong antibiotics so I can't drink (sore as hell just to drink water with the tonsillitis I have!) but also (2) the girlfriend is away so no sex...basically I'm fecked! :whistling:

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

This is a case of...

"Blue Monday" as it is so fondly referred to, is the one day each year that has more people feeling clinically depressed, crying, sniffling and whining than at any other time of the year. This is not just "hear-say" or rumour, Blue Monday is a scientific fact; there is one date every year that is calculated out to be the most depressing day that will occur for that year, and Blue Monday is it.

The Monday that begins the last full week in each January is scientifically calculated to be the most depressing day of the year. It is considered to be the one day of the year when people are at their unhappiest levels of emotion. This year, 2009, Blue Monday is calculated to fall on January 19th. (Today)

The official concept and date of "Blue Monday" was created by Dr. Cliff Arnall a researcher at Cardiff University. His mathematical formula was calculated to take into account six factors that would lead to depression. These factors include:
• weather conditions (January has an extreme lack of sunshine and is generally the gloomiest month of the year),
• our level of debt and our ability to pay that debt,
• time elapsed since Christmas,
• time elapsed since failing our New Years resolutions,
• our general seasonal motivational levels,
• and our need to take action and to have something to look forward to (During January there is such a long period without statutory holidays that we are not given much to look forward to).

According to Dr. Arnall's calculations, it is highly unlikely that you can avoid the harmful effects that Blue Monday throws on our highly volatile emotional state of mind! But don't despair, there is just the remotest itty bitty teeny weeniest chance that you might be lucky enough to squiggle out from under that all too heavy weight of statistical evidence, and be the one individual who stands out from the crowd.

Odds are though that you will indeed get very depressed on "Blue Monday". Oh well!

If you are forced to drag your moody self out and participate in "Blue Monday", then relax. Grab yourself a cup of tea, or one of those tall cold drinks that we are advised not to have too many of, and join in the celebration.

By Tuesday it will all be over and every day gets better from there. So if Monday is a stinker, don’t worry. We’re all in the same boat.
try to focus on the good things in life and try meditation helps.

Depression is a sign that something needs to changed within yourself for the positive, it's quite often seen as a negative state but thats not always the case.

Few days ago I read an article in the Daily Mail heres the headline : " feeling blue?
stop worrying...depression is good for you say Scientist"

And their claims may stack up historically with Sir Winston Churchill, Abraham Lincoln, Sir Isaac Newton and Beethoven all suffering from some form of depression.
