No. You're safe, but drive better next time. I was in the car behind you. :p

Lol, No offence commited. although you are lucky there was no-one behind you that was close
#5
Your fine! but remember if you have to brake hard like that then you should of kept going as your were commited to the action
#6
before someone else jumps in with a questionably random comment like "3 points on your licence + £30 fine"

3 points on your licence + £60 fine Im afraid.

:-D

LOL.

Having read some of his other threads, sadly, he is.

I seem to remember that red is to stop, green is to go and amber is go faster :p lol

You probably should have kept going in amber, obviously that depends on how fast you were going and how far you were from the traffic light, etc.

You were lucky that the car behind you did not hit you.

But this should not be an offence so no worries.
#9
Maybe a shorter car will help to keep you points free.

would have been drivers fault as he should have left adequate distance for OP to brake hard. thats what people who want to scam others insurance do.....my neigbour was saying someone did that on the motorway...slammed brakes on for no reason, she went into back of him...she had to pay up.... bless her shes old and alone as well...aww

anyways u sound well boring a driver.
#11
i think you could be on the police wanted list soon for that offence. if i were you i would take a long holiday somewhere they dont extradite people.

ps. iv never heard of a camera monitoring traffic lights for people jumping them.

I actually lol'd in real life. :-D
#13
you should probably get a slower car.

or a pedal bike.
#15
Or drive at an appropriate speed for the prevailing conditions.

If you needed to brake hard in order to stop, you were going too fast.

At the end of my road there's like some cross roads, the lights are timed to leave a few seconds after red light comes on, and there's loads that still go over when your light has gone onto green and are going across- so at least 5 seconds have passed where they could adaquately break (I can't spell I know!) and they just keep going, then when we shout at them (naturally :|) they're giving us the finger even though they've broke the law!!!
#17
Op, idea for a job : Taxi Driver.

I've yet to see on that didn't stop half way across the line

I think that was probably more to do with your choice of football team than any motoring offence. :whistling:

i was on a night bus at the weekend the went through a red light

he had stopped for it but just slowly went through it
#25
As previously said, minimum 3 points and £60 fine (if caught).

You must stop behind the white line unless the light is green. You may continue over the line on amber but only if stopping behind the line would be likely to cause an accident. So stopping part way over the line is an offence.

Moving forward over the line is not permitted on red. This would technically be a separate offence.

As these regulations form part of the Road Traffic Act any breach is an offence in law.

Incidentally, I'm not sure how the event actually happened - were you travelling in excess of the limit or not paying proper attention? If not then I don't understand why you didn't just continue through the lights on the amber as it seems that causing an accident was a distinct possibility with such a sudden stop.
#26
there were no cameras near the lights and i stopped on amber its just that the front of my car was sticking out a little

There may have been cameras you couldn't see or there will have been witnesses. I frequently report cars which pass over the line, it's just not on.

I would hand yourself in and try and get a smaller fine if i were you

do what?

If you mean report the incident, then like myself many other people do not like rule breakers in our society

If you mean reporting yourself, you should get a lesser fine for spending less police time etc. and seeing as you will get charged soon enough, you may aswell do it now

There are alot of cameras you can't see, and as i said there would have been witnesses and you can't really miss somebody going over the line.

i did this on a driving lesson a few weeks back, my instructor was not pleased at all, threatened to stop me having lessons with him anymore if i did it anymore, so i am going to say it most cirtainly isnt a good thing at all and from the go he was having at me, id say it was illegal
#35
Forgot to mention before that one time i was walking across the road when one car went over the line and ended up hitting my dog, poor thing got a broken leg. It's people like you who need taking off the road, hazard to everyone

my dad once did a similar offence, lost his license which meant he couldnt work, eventually he started drinking and became violent, he started to punch my grandma when nobody was looking, got really serious, eventually my mum threatened to leave him and he got angrier, he picked up my younger brother and threw him out the window and he sadly passed away, has left our family in tatters

Sorry to hear about that, people need to be more aware of the dangers of these type of offenses, they aren't in the media as much but they have really serious consequences some time.
