trainline response?

Hey all

Taking the kids away for the weekend but as we already had our main holiday im on a very tight budget, i booked train tickets with the trainline and selected an open return, the link to this told me they needed to be used within a month of outward journey, fine as its just a 3 day thing and it was cheaper than booking a reeturn date, now when the tickets arrived they have given me a DAY return, meaning we have to use them the same day as outward grrrr

unhelpful on phone, told me my only option was cancel and start again but incur a charge, then i'd have to wait for refund to have the money to rebook which i dont want or have the time to do, i have emailed customer relations but after 2 days still no response, anyone had any good customer serrvice from the trainline? :)

i can just book returns at a cost of another £40 ish but as i said im on a very tight budget :(

They are useless!! They did the same thing to me. The only thing you can do is re-book, and then send the unused ones back. They will refund you but give you a £10 administration charge. I will never use them again.

The small print says that you have a month to use the return but then you get it and its just a day return. I pointed this out to the woman on the phone and she even agreed but said there was no other option but to send the tickets back for a refund minus a £10 administration charge.
I sent them a stinking letter along with my tickets hoping they would refund the whole amount. They didnt, they had the cheek to take the £10 administration charge for something that is entirely their fault. Will not use them again.
Im afraid you have no choice but to re-book and take the £10 hit.

Sounds like they are in " breach of contract"....IMHO it would seem they have done it before and will keep doing it ...looks like they are trying to get an easy £10 out of a lot of people.

I sent them a five page stinking letter including screenshots showing them the page of their website which stated the return would have a month to be used. I said that i would not pay a £10 fee.....they took it out of my refund anyway cheeky bar stewards!!! Dont think ull get anywhere to be honest.

I think I would send them a letter before action, firstly for the £10 'admin' charge, and secondly for compensation fot not being able to go on the weekend away, along with any other costs you may have incurred.
Ill bet that will get at least your tenner back.
