As a liverpool fan im extreamly dissapointed with our transfer targets, i mean barry?? come one, what kind of replacement is that for alonso, all we need is a top class striker, £15 -£25mil, and a right winger and a left back, three top players proberly 60 mil in total, well raise like 25 mil from sales, just need some back from the owners.

also manutd.com has reported:

United have bid £15.8million for Portugal right-back Jose Bosingwa. SunSport can reveal Porto received the offer yesterday but want no less than £22m. United boss Alex Ferguson sees him as the successor to Gary Neville. Bosingwa, 25, is similar in style to Patrice Evra and a £55k-a-week deal with the player and his agent has been agreed. Fergie first made a move in January and No2 Carlos Queiroz was sent to open talks.

barry is a quality player who will thrive with gerrard (that played together in the u21's and now england) in the long term hes far better than alonso, alonsos a cracking passer but hes slow and isnt consistant, i dont think we need another world class striker there wud be a clash and torres loves being the centre of attention he thrives. id agree with the left back and winger though......but 60 million is silly we need to spend less than that look at evertons achievements with there budget..... if only they ploughed 60 million into the academy and produced some new british greats...sick of throwing money at players its stupid now and has to stop or it will ruin the game
