BUS - public transport is very good - JUST DONT FORGET TO PUNCH YOUR TICKET AS SOON AS YOU GET ON OTHERWISE A NASTY MAN WILL FINE YOU LOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND I MEAN LOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND HE IS NASTY! AND IT DEFINATELY APPEARED TO US TO BE A CASE OF TARGETTING UNSUSPECTING TRAVELLERS!!

I've actually got a bit of a phobia of public transport until I went to Prague, never seen such a reliable organised system in my life, reliable, cheap, no pushing or shoving - brilliant!

Tell them to watch out for the dodgy unlicenced taxis. We actually booked our taxi from the hotel to the airport through the hotel reception and a dodgy gangster looking geezer turned up in a battered old car. When we arrived at the airport he tried to charge double what the official taxis charge. So I waited for him to get the cases out of his car and then told him I would pay him the same as we paid to get to the airport to the hotel. He started having ago but we headed for the terminal building and left him standing there - There is a lot of dodgy business like this in prague with the hotel staff on bungs - beware.

Best one is in turkey, when you get the people who paint their car's yellow who arn't liceneced taxis. Rather funny.

Is this recent at £33 ? It sound a right rip off to me. About 6 years ago I went to Prague for the first and last time on business. All of us westerners got fleeced really badly, we were the laughing stock of the local hotel waiters as we paid 8X the rate of the normal fare as they hear woes of foreigners getting lamb for slaughter. However it was still cheaper than London taxi's mile for mile! \but £33 sounds too much to me unless their petrol has as much tax as we do in UK (85% tax) and I doubt it. Always book through reputable hotels, they are a bit more expensive than what the local Czechs would pay but a loadsa cheaper than those that roam like wolves (unless there has been a clamp down since then).

33 included transport form airport for 2 and back again

as well as a 4 hour tour in prague

we booked with a english company to pick them up at the airport and drop to the door with no hassles and then to take them back early monday as well as do the tour on sat morning so they see the sights.

Isnt it just, had a 4 day break in Prague and the public transport infrastructure was brilliant, simplistic but very effective - just as well as it was baltic in December brrr

We recently stopped over in Prague for a day on our flight back to the UK. We wanted a quick and easy way to get right into the centre of Prague so as to maximise our short time there.

Taxi was obvious first option. However, after researching on web, found a much better alternative. When you arrive, if you follow the signs for Taxis, then near the exit is a kiosk with Cedaz written on it.

There you can buy a ticket - single or return - for a trip to Prague, it takes you right to the centre, in a good spot between the old and new town. Can't remember exact price now, but for a return it was in the region of £2.

It is strictly speaking a minibus - seats about 8 people. But on journey out there was only us and another couple, and there was only us on way back. It runs every half an hour.

You can also ask them to take you to a specific spot - e.g. a hotel - and I think for that they charge a little extra.

Believe me, neither of us are keen on public transport, especially not buses, but this was pretty much a taxi in all but name, and very reliable and very cheap.
