Hi Guys,
im planning to take my children to London. We have never been. We live on a small island, the size of London is difficult to comprehend.
Any suggestions on the easiest, cheapest way to get around.
We will be staying a premier inn at harlow mill station for two days.

I'd say a travel card:
http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/times_fares/ticket_types/travelcards_oyster.html#Travelcards

Usually let you go zones 1-6 and allow unlimited travel on buses and underground.
Cant find any info on price at the moment...

the tube pretty much takes you anywhere!

get yourself some oyster cards!

^^^ That.

Oyster cards are indeed the way forward :) we go to london once or twice a year and always top them up and use them while we are there!!

how did my post get bumped to second?

Definately get an oyster card for each of you. Sign up and add some money to it on line and they post them out to you. Also download all the maps there too. You can use the card on the tube or buses. I would avoid going on the underground at rush hour in the mornings otherwise it is fine. If your kids are small just make sure you are all on the tube and not get separated when the doors close. Had a scary moment when I got left on the platform once. Enjoy all the museums etc that are free and have agreat holiday

i think if you'll be travelling alot in the couple of days you should get a travelcard.

oyster cards are more for people that live in london, and after a certain amount of trips the cost is the same anyway, but you often hear about oyster cards not scanning properly and then you'll get charged alot more

oyster cards often overcharge me for no apparant reason- have really cut down on their usage as its a hassle trying to get the money back.. esp if its like 70p or sommat, although it mounts up after a while.

you can get load of two for one offers from the Great Days out website- im sure your little ones would love the London Aquarium (Strand) tis so fascinating and just the right size to browse for an hour without kids getting bored/ impatient

Dont see the point of getting oyster cards if you dont come to london often. Dont forget they charge £3 per card and there is no way you will make that kind of saving with one trip to london. Get yourself a travel card or even a weekend travel card (if they still do them) and then enjoy :D
