EDITED So ive managed to get the choices down to mega bus at around £20 give or take aor train at 23/24 now i was wondering what is the best way to travel around London? Price wise?

As if i went by bus i would be at Victoria, Train at Paddigton and i need to meet someone at Waterloo.

We are then having a few hours in and around London before needing to travel on the overghround from waterloo to Norburton.

What's the most cost effective way of doing that? anyone know how much it would be, are there travel cards etc?

I do have an oyster card but dont want to top it up with more than i need!

Just had a look on National Express and got £14 return. However that would be leaving early so not sure if that is ok.

We use Baker Dolphin, bit cheaper that Nat Ex sometimes

If you're booking in advance then First Great Western fares are not too bad.
Avoid coach like the plague a 3+hours trip on M4 is not fun; train on the other hand is ~1hr 40m.

There used to be a train split fare via Salisbury (dunno if its still done) but that may be cheaper but not really worth the hassle (similar journey times as coach).
If you are considering national express (don't!) then look out for fun fares they are cheaper than normal fares.

3 Hours? From Bristol?!:whistling:

Yes, usually more if something happened on m4.
Though that time estimate is from The Triangle, Queens Road not the bus station.

Right, bakers dolphin doesnt work out cheaper either. Thanks for all the help guys i will look into via salisbury!

salisbury is probably not viable for time reasons.

i can get the trains down to 23 - 24 ish.

Don't know about Waterloo to Norburton but for the rest go with Oyster.
You should be able to get a refund on any unused credit + oyster deposit when you no longer need to use it.

As for getting to London, just go by direct train to Paddington, much better journey compared to the alternatives.

Ive just worked out Norbiton is zone 5 overground from waterloo.
How much is a 1 day off peak travel card zones 1-5 with and oyster card?
and just to double check when i s considered off peak for london travel?

Oyster will still be cheaper, it's deliberately priced to be cheaper than normal tickets/travelcards.
