Travelling time from Legoland to Chessington on a Friday evening??

I;m hoping someone can give me a bit of advice please. I have booked to stop at Chessington on 26th March. As the park isn't open on the Friday I was looking at going to Legoland with my 3 children who are all under 5. This is fine as google maps have stated it takes about 30 minutes to drive from legoland to Chessington. However I suspect that this won't be the case on a Friday evening. I really don't want 3 miserable children stuck in a traffic jam. Can anyone tell me what the journey is generally like at that time of day ( about 5pm) and what I can realistically expect the journey time to be??
Thanks for your help

Thanks...it just seems a shame to be near the place and not go... I suppose we could leave later but if the 2 year old falls asleep she will be a nightmare at the hotel!!

To be fair, if you did it without going on the M25, it may be quicker. That part of the motorway really is awful.

Thanks, I'll PM her and ask which is the best way to travel and avoid the traffic. Not going for ages but was looking at staying another night which I really don't want to do.
Thank you so much for your help
