For any other presidential candidate, this would be the final nail in the coffin wouldn't it?

US presidential candidate Donald Trump has apologised for obscene comments about women he made in a newly released videotape from 2005.
Mr Trump said that "these words don't reflect who I am... I apologise".
In the video, Mr Trump says "you can do anything" to women "when you're a star" and brags about trying to grope and kiss women.

This is the craziest thread I have seen here for a long time.
The argument that somehow Trump's behaviour is excusable. It is not , it is obvious he is a misogynist. To talk about women that way is appalling and is not normal male banter.
Also you cant excuse one behaviour by coming up with an example of the worse behaviour of someone else. That does not make any sense.
Why do people defend Trump no matter what he is does?
I do enjoy the US apprentice and if you have ever watched that show you know how creepy he is around women.
The thought of him as President sends chill down my spine.

Here's me opinion

What normal man and his mates has not said similar or worse about a good looking woman?

This article is your normal average media attack on Trump because the media are funded/supported or threatened with death if they write articles about the Clinton's

This saga is just like our Brexit - the Remain voters hate to lose and will not accept democracy won. Just like Trump will win with democracy because he's answering the peoples needs.

Yes some of the things Trump says are OTT but I agree with him about the wall, I agree that more checks should be done on specific immigrants bur more so I could not trust Hillary Clinton. Any other candidate I'd of probably thought better but when you've got a potential president who has the deaths of innocent America soldiers on her hands, who has destroyed evidence and has lied under oath - that's not the sort of person who should be standing for election.

Why does the media not tell us about lawyer Hilary Clinton getting a 41 year old rapist off after he raped a 12 year old girl in Arkansas in 1975 - and accused the 12 year old of fantasising about older men ! and was taped laughing about the ordeal.

Obviously I haven't included the worst of the comments. And of course 'But Hillary....' responses are sure to follow, but how can a man who talks about treating women in this way still be in the race?

Also, a married man talking about hitting on a married woman must surely destabilise his hold on his conservative base shouldn't it?

Yes a final nail in the coffin for normal politicians, but not for Trump, his supporters probably share his views.

There's a difference between political correctness, and saying that when you're a star you can grab a woman by her genitals.

You realise that you can't do that, right?

In your tired state you seem to have confused what 'Bill Clinton did' for 'what Bill Clinton has been alleged to have done'. There is a difference. You know that right?

Also, Bill isn't on the ballot paper. But please, defend Trump's comments. No-one else here will.

Would the headline be 'Lawyer Defends Client'? Isn't it the Sixth Amendment to the United States Constitution that guarantees a citizen that?

I love this criticism of her because it highlights the hypocrisy of the right-wing in America.

Also 'but Hillary' is played out. Let's have some defence of his comments. Please. X)

Have you thought about the rights of privacy? A private conversation 11 years ago which was a bit of a banter. Someone had invaded the privacy and maliciously held this illegal video as a weapon. If anyone needs prosecuting it should be the person who held the video. How many people here have said something in private that they would not say years later, or certainly wouldn't say in public.

Remember George Orwell's book 1984 when he wrote about microphones in TV sets - all fiction then - all very possible now.
Beware what you say in your front room - you might be plastered on face book. We wouldn't have known about this private remark if an opportunistis, nasty individual, hadn't recorded and saved it to make public.

I really do not know what planet u live on.

Gennifer Flowers (born January 24, 1950) is an American model and actress who obtained notoriety in 1992 by revealing a 12-year sexual relationship with former U.S. President Bill Clinton. Clinton denied the affair at the time. However, In January 1998, as part of Paula Jones' case, Clinton testified under oath that he had [26] sexual relations with Flowers.[27][28] In 2016 Flowers stated that Hillary is an enabler of Bill Clinton's affairs.

But I want to say one thing to the American people. I want you to listen to me. I'm going to say this again: I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky. I never told anybody to lie, not a single time; never. These allegations are false. And I need to go back to work for the American people. Thank you.[25]

Lewinsky received transactional immunity in exchange for grand jury testimony concerning her relationship with Clinton.[26] She also turned over a semen-stained blue dress (that Linda Tripp had encouraged her to save without dry cleaning) to the Starr investigators, thereby providing unambiguous DNA evidence that could prove the relationship despite Clinton's official denials.[27]

Clinton admitted in taped grand jury testimony on August 17, 1998, that he had had an "improper physical relationship" with Lewinsky. That evening he gave a nationally televised statement admitting his relationship with Lewinsky which was "not appropriate".[28]

Now it is a big assumption given the fact the above proves Bill Clinton is at the very least a serial cheat and a lair but lets assume all the other "victims" are all liars that would still make Bill Clinton far worse than Donald Trump.

That's more like it. Expectation of privacy of a man....wearing a microphone....talking to an interviewer.....on an Entertainment Tonight bus....having given 'All Access' to his featuring on a daytime soap. Ergo, it's an obvious exemption from California's two-party consent laws.

It's an incorrect application of the law but it's better than 'but Hillary'.

Clinton had an affair. So did Trump. They're both pretty awful, but Trump's comments are disrespectful and some might say predatory. So I'd say Trump.

But only one is a presidential candidate.

I realise there's rumours and accusations coming from the alt-right about Clinton and there's even a cash prize on offer for people who say stuff like 'Bill is a rapist' on TV, but there's a difference between allegations, accusations and proven cases.

'Grab them by the p****'.

Normal blokes with a healthy respect for women don't say that type of stuff. I've grown up at football grounds and in rugby clubs and you get banter, you get 'blokes being blokes' but if you think that saying stuff like that is ok then you'll find yourself either drinking alone or drinking with some shady fellas.

So here's some advice - don't say stuff like that if. It's an ugly thing to say and please, don't tar normal blokes with it either.

If u are such a defender and protector of women then i guess u must at least support Trumps policy of the USA not taking in refugees from the middle east? Clinton wants to take 50,000-100,000 a year, we all saw what happened in Cologne.

"I've said and done things I regret," he said. "Anyone who knows me knows these words don't reflect who I am. I said it, I was wrong, and I apologise.
"I've never said I'm a perfect person nor pretended to be someone I'm not. I pledge to be a better man tomorrow."

So the man apologised and said his comments from a decade ago were wrong and pledged to be a better person in future.

I see you're trying to shift the goalposts but my short answer is when I see people seeking asylum from war zones, I don't automatically think they're coming to rape women.

Shifting the discussion about a man who talks about groping/sexually assaulting women to groups of men who did the same in Cologne is a bold strategy though. Obviously it's different because Trump is, well it doesn't need stating does it?

Would be hilarious how everyone that's sticking up for him would have a change of opinion if he was brown and Muslim but did the exact same actions from the start of the race. Haha!

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump go into a bakery shop.

As soon as they enter the bakery, Trump "takes" three cakes and puts them in his pocket.

He says to Hillary: “See how smart I am? The owner didn’t even see anything, and I don’t even need to lie.”

Hillary says to Donald: “That’s the typical dishonesty you have displayed throughout your entire life, trickery and deceit. I am going to show you an honest way to get the same 3 cakes without stealing or lying, and also prove that I am smarter than you!”

Hillary goes to the owner of the bakery and says: “Give me a cake and I will show you a magic trick?”

Intrigued, the owner accepts Hillary’s offer and gives her a cake. Hillary pass it to her bodyguard and asks for another one. The owner gives her another one. Then Hillary asks for a third cake and gives that to her bodyguard, too. She whispers to her bodyguard who goes out to put the three cakes away in her car.

By this time, the owner is starting to wonder where the magic trick is and asks: “What did you do with the cakes?”

Hillary replies: “Look in Donald’s pocket.”

Not shifting the goal posts but when u can not accept a man who has had sexual affairs multiple times and lied about one when he was POTUS is not worse Trump then what is the point of arguing.

Do u not even get a flicker of recognition in your mind questioning why have all these women accused Bill Clinton of rape and sexual assault?

I think people who have affairs are terrible, but if they're consensual then it's a private matter.

The same goes for Trumps affairs, but we're not discussing that. His comments were about groping/assaulting women and being able to get away with it because he's famous.

But so far you've made more than half-a-dozen posts and not once condemned or criticised Trump or his comments. You've managed to bring up Hillary, Bill, Obama, Cologne and Muslims though.

If you don't want to discuss his comments (the title makes it clear what this thread was about) then why post? Assume I know why and simply comment on his comments.

This is not a public trial, although many do think so here, this is about head to head battle of debates , words and accountability of the last two persons on earth for the most powerful president post. It ain't about excusable acts, right versus wrong, apologist, morality or ethics, it is a bout in a ring, throws of soundbites and visual expressions matter. There are just two persons, the very best of All Amercian, and the last two will/could do NO wrong, they are the absolute ultimate best, the last two standing, the cream of the crops of many bouts touring all over America.
