Turkey.......good place for a family holiday?

  This advice has been reviewed and reissued with an amendment to the Safety and Security – Terrorism section (explosion in Istanbul on 1 March). The overall level of the advice has not changed; we advise against all but essential travel to the provinces of Hakkari, Sirnak, Siirt and Tunceli.

  we went to antalya and it was beautiful. my favourite country for a beach holiday. very good value for money. would definately recommend it.

  Ive been to ichmeler, it was nice, not too big, not too small,
  Busy enough to be lively and fun but still relaxing, but not heaving and full of drunk idiots
  The people were friendly, polite and didnt bother you too much
  
  would love to go again, my fav place so far, we stayed at a hotel called julian forest, i can not fault it

  depends on the hotel you stay at. we were fine where we stayed and the restaurants we went to seemed fine to me.

  yes I agree, but I work in Food Science industry and I know some stuff. If it is too good to be true...well what you paid is what you are getting for...
  Does anyone remember on BBC there was special tv programme about holidays and in there on 4 Star hotels in TURKEY they found great problems!!! so you are warned.

  The TV showed me yobs and riots in London last year...i could see past that and see that is not how the city actually is most of the time.

  i should add i went with kids aged 1, 8 and 12, they loved it, they are really child friendly over there. The hotel staff were wonderful with the baby, they coo,d over her and all had there photos with her...they treated her like a VIP

  Been there twice now. Great for families but I'd suggest the smaller, quieter resorts like Turgutreis or Dalyan instead of Bodrum or Marmaris. I know some people complain about being hassled to buy stuff but a firm "No thanks" has always sufficed for us. The food has always been pretty good - as for food hygiene, well I've seen plenty of places in the UK that are dodgy. We generally look for places that a lot of locals eat at, usually a good sign of reasonable quality and price.

  We went to Marmaris and stayed in the club alpine apartments with Thomas cook, got a good deal and the hotel was excellent especially if u have kids, the staff there keep kids and adults entertained all day. Was in a quiet part of Marmaris but only £4 in a taxi to the centre or you could take the bus! I really can't fault the place 1 bit it was fantastic!

  Went five times as a teenager and enjoyed it everytime. We stayed five star all inclusive.

  Didn't the post office guide state it as one of the more expensive places to go now?
