Just bought a cheap unlocked and jailbroken Iphone 2g.

I'm using it with a T-Mobile sim but didn't realise it connected to the net constantly.

I've tried changing the APN and using Bossprefs on Cydia to connect via WiFi only, but I still seem to get the little circle icon indicating that I'm using the net via my Network Provider.

I don't really want to pay out £20 a month for the O2 Simplicity plan, is there something I'm doing wrong or would T-Mobile's 7.50 Unlimited Internet option cover my usage?

Rep for any help.

yer but being a mobile phone wifi is not always an option is it?

With regs to the OP, I am not sure this can be turned off, all I would suggest is to change all the settings like you have done. Or get an iphone PAYG o2 sim.

Yeah, I got it connected via Wifi fine, but occasionally it drops and pops up with the circle. Does the circle have to be blue for it to be connected?

How much do they charge for the PAYG sim?

Isn't the monthly Simplicity option a better deal?

The EDGE symbol is to show you which data network is available to use, this does not mean you are connected. If you have changed the data settings to incorrect ones, then it will not download anything, but it will still show the EDGE symbol.
