Most of the best detective series seem to originate from across the pond these days.

Dexter is intriguing but the CSI franchise just keeps running, (with the original being the best in our opinion).

We've had a version of Law & Order (UK) but its appearance is so sporadic that we can't get into it.

BBC's Sherlock was enthralling.

Don’t like CSI, I know it is a predictable reply but The Wire is the best cop show I have ever watched.

Have you ever seen The First 48 on crime? It is a real life detective show, amazing TV, although it points out just how much of a state some parts of our world are in.

I love the original CSI.

CSI Miama has grown on me, didn't like it at first as I couldn't take to the Horatio character. My favourite is probably the original but I do enjoy the lightheartedness of NCIS. I just want to kidnap McGee.

CSI was great. CSI New York is pretty dull.

CSI Miami is watched exclusively by d-bags and a-holes. It's a hateful show and impossible to watch without wanting to punch David Caruso in the testicles.

Law and Order was just consistently good. The UK version was interesting in that it was the only show ITV made in the last decade that could be enjoyed by people not in receipt of dole money.

NCIS - not watched much of it. Waiting until I'm over the age of 60 like everyone else who watches it.

And why did it take until the third post to mention The Wire?

The Wire is dull.

all 3 CSIs are crap now. Only decent US crime series left is Southland.

US TV is a pale shadow of its former self from just a few short years ago. Now its all reality crap. Bring back Vic Mackey to sort it out!

BBC produce far better shows. ITV is pretty awful (e.g. VERA).

actually, Law & Order SVU is still pretty good.

Not seen The Wire yet.
Whilst House doesn't strictly fall under this category, it does "sort of" involve detective work. It is quite good too esp Hugh Laurie (nice rug btw) (_;)

Life is generally dull, the wire is extremely well done and has an abundance of realism. I like real shows, I don’t do unrealistic shows.

The first 48 as I pointed out on crime, is real and is excellent, really real :p, worth anyone checking out as long as they don’t mind the odd body lying about.

original CSI for me but not since Grissom left, the show seems to have lost something. Just got into Criminal Minds and enjoying Law & Order SVU.
Law & Order Criminal Intent was good until Gorren left :)

They are making a spin off of Criminal Minds, I wonder if that'll be as good as the original?
