I believe the easiest is a usb stick.

Plug in, install drivers, connect to aerial, usually the one supplied is poo, and there you go. Works well if you have good coveraGE AND aerial.

can you recomend any hardware??

I'm using a Freecom DVB USB stick, Basically you install the software, Plug it in, Plug the aerial into the USB stick and thats it!

So I can now watch, Record and Timeshift the different programs.

As above:

The usb sticks are ok but you need a decent aerial to get all the channels.

My bedroom is in line sight of the TV mast but I still could not get a lot of channels with the aerial supplied.

Use the house aerial is you can (Its a pain as that means the laptop isn't portable (got a long lead though), But I also use it on my desktop to record stuff.)

The mini aerial supplied is completely rubbish.

This is the same as the one i've got : http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/3317797/Freecom-DVB-T-USB-Stick-Digital-TV-Tuner/Product.html

Ive only ever used an Artec Freeview box about a year ago or two ago so can't personally recommend any.

The one IOM posted, Im sure Ive seen it for around £20 before though.

System requirements are reasonably low, I'm using it on a 1ghz, 256mb laptop running XP Pro sp2, The only issue is the screen refresh rate (so my laptop at fault, Not the USB Dvb stick.

Most areas you'll really need a decent house aerial to get DVB to work. Problem with digital is it either works or doesn't - there isn't a middle-ground of poor-yet-watchable reception as there is with analog. Other problem is the signals are transmitted at a much lower strength than they will be when the analog signal is switched off (so in five years a TV-top aerial might be good enough, but for now you need a good roof aerial!).

£24.32 + 99p delivery. (99p deliver this weekend only. The code is "svpaugust99p") which can be freely distibuted.
I'm sure there is a discount for HUKD members. can't be arsed to look though.

I've got the stick and it works really well plugged into the house aerial!
