why would people sell hd recorders after changing suppliers?

Just remember if buying virgin boxes off ebay, you are technically buying stolen goods. As the boxes remain the property of Virgin.

i presumed it was same as sky once youve paid for the box its yours....

so for instance you have sky you bought the box already ,then you goto virgin for a year get the cashback .....then go back to sky get the cashback and you already have a + box .....so you dont need to spend £100 on a new one

is this not possible?

not on virgin, the box is never yours, you are just renting it
People do sell them (technically stolen) but virgin won't re-activate them so apart rom the likes of bbc1/2 itv etc they are useless

so how come ebay and hukd allow them to be sold then if you are saying it is illegal?

dont they just have a viewing card like sky then, is the signal not just sent to the house regardless what box you have?

they aren't

t should go without saying, NO prohibited, classified or illegal items. This includes fake/counterfeit goods, copied media, ANY console cards 'TTDS', 'DSTT' or 'Pandora' batteries etc., cable TV boxes 'NTL' or 'Virgin Media' etc.

ebay remove them if they are reported too

Hi there.

HUKD's policy with regards to Virgin and Sky boxes is to allow them to be sold on here unless either company tells us that it's not permitted. Which they haven't.

It's upto users whether they want to break the T&Cs of their Sky/Virgin contracts, as they're the ones who would be liable. I don't believe that this is any big issue though, as people sell them all of the time.

Thanks,
Ducky

i have no idea why they buy them tbh
as for the reply above, why do the rules specifically state no virgin boxes to be sold :?
In any event, its not a breach of contract selling them, its theft.
