Hoping someone can spot where I've gone wrong at all..

I have been using this guide to do the twilight mod on my wii, but it dont seem like its worked.

http://www.k3q.info/browse.php?u=Oi8vd3d3LmRpZ2l0YWwta2Fvcy5jby51ay9mb3J1bXMvZjE2L3dpaS1zb2Z0bW9kLXR1dG9yaWFsLW5vb2JzLWxpa2UtbWUtMjA1NDUv&b=13

I ran the twilight princess game, and ran the hack... but the next step says i need to downgrade to 3.2 ( iwas on 3.4E..) but as i didnt have the net, i shut my wii down, and hopped over to my mates.. did this there... downgraded to 3.2E.

I then procceded to continue to do the following steps all okay, and then downloaded a wii game... it seemed to be the right size..

Nintendo Wii ISO size: 4.37 GB (4,699,979,776 bytes).

so i burn onto a cheap DVD-R and tried it in the backup channel.. It just trys to load the game and then reverts to the backup channel menu.. it does not do anything or give any error.. and to bring up the menu, i have to pop the game in, load the channel, then hold "1" till it appears..

where have i gone wrong?

In theory, any should work, but I did a lot of reading up before I did mine, and 99% of people said to use Verbatims. You need to eliminate the easy things first, and to me, using decent media is the easiest thing to check.

The only time I have had a bad burn when I have had other applications running whilst burning.

I don't know if it's possible to check whether it has been done correctly.

I have only tried to play 1 commercial DVD in mine, and it didn't work either, so that's no indication.

Use DVD dumper, and rip one of your games, and then burn it on a decent disc, and test it.
It's better than illegally downloading games that you don't know whether they work or not.

I think it's been expired because you mentioned downloading a game in the op:)

Added the homebrew channel onto my brothers at the weekend, and didn't have to downgrade from 3.4e to 3.2e. Did you run the CIOS installer, and the IOS .wad file? When you go into the backup launcher, what IOS (in the bottom right hand corner) does it say you are running?

The steps i followed are:

STEP 2 : Twilight hack
Put the newly created SD card in the Wii's SD slot
Go into Wii Options/Data Management/Save Data/SD card/ and copy over the twilight hack file to the wii.
Run Zelda:TP straight away and when the save file is loaded walk your man backwards, the game should crash and the ELF loader will pop up and start installing the homebrew channel
When asked to update homebrew channel ... accept
STEP 3 : Downgrade/Upgrade to 3.2, If you're already on 3.2 skip to STEP 4
STEP 3-1 : Only for peeps with 3.3/3.4 firmwares... anything else skip to STEP 3-2
Load Wad Manager in Homebrew Channel and install IOS16-64-v257-prod.wad
Load Custom WM in Homebrew Channel and install cios_fix.wad
Load IOS Downgrader in Homebrew Channel
STEP 3-2 Load cIOS Downgrader in Homebrew channel, scroll down to 3.2e (e = europe for PAL) and install.
You should now be running 3.2 firmware
STEP 4 : Install goodies
Go to homebrew channel and install starfall, read the gumpf and press B&1 when ready ( if you read the disclaimer it says use 1 instead of 2... B&1 ) and install everything on the list by pressing + on each item ( you might have to press B&1 a few times to get it to work )
Run cIOS Installer in Homebrew Channel
Load "Install Shop IOS51". Say Yes to installing IOS51,Yes to patching a fix but leave the Wii Shop Channel.
Load Wad Manager in Homebrew Channel and install BackupLauncher_03g_Wiiish_v3_EN.wad and IOS38-64-v3609.wad.
Now you should have the Wii_ish backup loader channel on the Wii menu.. use this to launch Wii backups

However, there is a gap between step 2 and step 3.. i dunno if this has anything to do with it? I cant check the version as im at work.. dont think i did the cIOS installer as the one above dont tell em to do it.. (so confused!!!)

Your thread has been "Expired" not locked.

I am quite new to the modded Wii, I have only been doing it for about 3 weeks, so do not know a great deal.

DVD dumper is a homebrew application that was in the pack that I downloaded with the "twighlight" instructions. "Yes" It dumps original Wii games.

I didn't downgrade my Wii, it's on 3.4.

Does the programme you use to burn the disc make a difference?

Again, when I did my research, "img burn" is the one touted.

I used this one:

http://www.disqworld.com/forums/softmod-und-homebrew-wiitorials-t327401.html

I downloaded the 3.4 No downgrade installation pack, and for Homebrew, the Emulator and dvd/divx BASIC PACK.

Obviously, you need to update the Wii to 3.4 if you do what I did. :)

Like I said earlier, I am completely new to modding Wii's, so I would hate to advise you about something which I don't fully understand.

I believe that you can simply do a system update on the Wii, and put 3.4, and then follow the instructions I did.
I would wait for confirmation from some knowledgeable though, or ask on a gaming forum, as I would hate for you to have a nice shiny white brick under your telly.
