How the hell does this work?
Signed up a few months ago but couldnt really work out how to use it, so i followed jonathon ross just because i saw that he was using it in the newspaper. Also none of my mates are using it yet.
im normally pretty good at things like this but this baffles me!

Im confused as when i click on him there are messages from him which are clear to see but then there are messages from people which start @

Are they replies to him or has he replied to people?

Help!

Looks like it's a big deal so I signed up too. I've only added a few people and also my fav football club. So far I've found it really useful to read the football club tweets :) it's more up to date than most footy fan website i've been to so far !!

I started about a week ago. I used the search box to find people talking about stuff I was interested in and replied to their tweets ! and now have 10 people following me and I'm following about 30 more.

It dose seem hard to get going if you don't know anyone using it, but just jumping into other people's conversations seems to work. . .

i cant see it even competing with facebook, but having said that i remember when myspace was the place to be and though facebook would never compete with it... and now look!

If the entries on Jonathan Ross's Twitter page start with an @twittername MESSAGE, they are generally replies he has sent to the person in the start of the message:

Eg: @Skintish I have one missing at the back. There is an imposter lurking in my mouth.

Which is taken from Ross' page

If you go to your HOME page, rather than your profile page, you will see messages from the users you follow, messages you've sent to people with the @twittername, and also those that have replied that will be in the format of @YOURtwittername MESSAGE

There is also a @Yourtwittername in the sidebar on your home page. If you click on this, it will take you to a page with all your replies :-)

I guess it's an alternative to the Facebook status - you can link your twitter to your facebook - update the twitter and it updates facebook, although don't think it does it the other way.

Depending on who you subscribe to or "Follow" you can get a lot of news as it happens, depending on what your interests are.
